Dada has been happening for awhile, mama just happened yesterday! :x DS will actually look at my husband and say dada though, mama is just babbling. Still so sweet to hear!
LO just started babbling last week and ma ma is the babble of choice. It's SO CUTE. And since I had always heard that babies usually do da da first because it's easier, I'm extra excited that ma ma is first instead. Especially when he looks right at me and says it.
Congrats to both my TTC buddies, Amberley18 and sb2006 on their beautiful babies!
We have had alot of undirected mums and dada babble the last few weeks. Last night when I got home from work she looked and me and said mum excitedly! I was awesome!
Mama was his first word. He's been saying it for over a month now. Next was bababa and he finally started saying dada 2weeks ago. He definitely says mama to mean mama, not just babbling - but bababa and dada seem like babble still. Although about half the time he says dada while looking at DH so, who knows. Lol
She says mama a lot but I think it's mostly just babble. No dada yet. She has been sticking her tongue out and babbling at the same time, which makes it sound like she's saying "bla bla bla." It's so cute!

Other than LO asking if she could have a beer, we've got nothing over here!
A girl after my own heart! One of my first words was beer. ;-)
We were at a picnic a few weeks ago, and DD grabbed a beer bottle right out of one of my friends' hands and started sucking on the top. Guess I can't really blame her, seeing as I use to do the same thing aaaaall the time. :-p
DS looked right at me the other day when I came into the room and exclaimed, "Maaaaa!". I have no idea if this was intentional or not, but I'll take it!
We've had mama for a a couple weeks now. I wasn't sure at first, but now he's saying it as he crawls towards me or when he's climbing up on me so I'm pretty confident it's intentional now. A few days ago he was saying, "dadadada" but DH wasn't home, so I can't say for sure yet what that was. I was just happy I beat DH to the punchline lol.
It sounds so ridiculously petty, but it has been mostly DS and I solo for most of his life, until I went back to work. DH had work and school, and spent many nights getting a full, blissful night's sleep on the couch while I was up all night with a screaming newborn, closed in our bedroom with tears running down both of our faces. It was he and I through all the really tough stuff, and I would have been a little 'hurt' if "Dada" came first, after everything we sort of went through together as a newborn and a FTM. Even though I would have obviously known it was nothing personal or intentional lol.
Freya has said Mama but only when she's really upset and crying. This leads me to believe she's equated it with comfort more than me but daddy lets me get all the mama calls so I think we're working the right way. The dada is much more of a babble thing but I think we've had a handful of intentional ones.
DS says mum mum, abut usually only when he is mad, but I still think it is directed at me, the other day he was babbling and said da dee, and looked right at dh, so I assume it's as on purpose. He has said it once or twice since. He also crawls after the dog going "dig dig dig".
DS1 said da da around this time. He started saying "flavors" of mama such as "baba" and "vava" after 1 year. I heard the first mama from him after 2 years.
DS2 says dada and DH "claims" he said mama the other day but I didn't hear it so it doesn't count. I'm not optimistic it will happen again before 2 years old.
Re: ma ma and da da?
Also yesterday I said "Kisses?" and he gave me a kiss on the lips.

@DublinMama Yes! That was my life with DD, only her bio-donor wasn't involved (still isn't). I was alone and her first word was "Gamma."
Can you tell I'm still upset? LOL
I'm still waiting for E to take an interest in talking at all. But his sister won't. EVER. SHUT. UP... so I don't foresee it happening too soon.
