Keeping LO warm

This was the first really cold morning of the season. I'm sure the people in the north have seen much colder temps, but it was low 40's this morning, and that's low for GA.

What do you put LO in for a car trip where he'll only be outside getting in and out of the car? He always pulls hats off his head, so I'm going to try one that velcros under his chin. I don't know if I should put gloves on him. It was easier last year because I put a hat and blanket on him, and he was too small to mess with it, but now he's mobile enough to pull it all off. Thanks!

Re: Keeping LO warm

  • We just keep a blanket in the car for our early morning car rides. I kinda tuck it in by his legs, and then he won't pull it off.

  • I second the blanket idea in the car.  As far as your concerns about getting in and out of the car, it shouldn't be a big deal if you aren't outside of the car for 10+ minutes.  A hat with straps is a good idea though if you find one he will keep on.

  • We also keep a blanket for the car seat.  M hates hats and manages to take every one off of her head.  She seems fine so far.

  • if its cold I try and start the car before we leave - I also bought her a jacket with a hood and it seems to stay on in the carseat bc its attached to the jacket
  • He wears a fleece and hat in the car on cold mornings.  I have an extra blanket in there, just in case, but we haven't had to use it quite yet.
  • We have been warming the car first and putting a blanket over him to get him to the car. Then that blanket will stay on (hopefully) in car. He pulls has off although we'll try to keep it on. I'm sure the blanket will be off too which is why I autostart the car to warm it up.
