High-Risk Pregnancy

Notch in my Uterine Artery!

So I got a call from my doctor last night again (still on bedrest) with more news. While they were going over my ultrasound they also caught the fact that I have a notch in my uterine artery (which is restricted blood flow to the placenta). He advised me I needed to go on blood thinner, and see a highrisk doctor for the remainder of my pregnancy. Not only that but I have to go for an Ultrasound once every two weeks for the next two months to check my cervix, and my uterine artery. From what i could gather it can cause a couple of different things such as Preemature labor, preeclampsia, IUGR, and MSAFP.

Has anyone else been diagnosed with this, or have had this issue in the past? They told me is wasn't a result of anything I have done, but just sometimes happens in pregancies.

Re: Notch in my Uterine Artery!

  • I don't have a notch in the uterine artery, but another issue (high resistance in umbilical artery) that also restricts blood flow and can cause similar issues. I go twice a week for ultrasounds and non stress tests now and was put on bedrest at 34 weeks. It can be managed and with close monitoring they will be able to catch any issues that may arise. Hang in there!

  • @klsantucci I go right now every two weeks for a ultrasound, so I am hoping we can closely keep an eye on it.  Thank you so much for the input!
