Jordyn's NICU Update

Just wanted to give y'all an update on baby girl. She was placed on oxygen right after she was born, because she had stopped breathing and was only 34w5d (this was Friday afternoon), but by 7:00 that night they turned off the oxygen and only had room air flowing through her nasal cannula. When we went to see her last night, the cannula was gone!

Yesterday afternoon the doctor wanted to see what she would do with some breast milk in a bottle, but he warned us that it's not uncommon for babies of that age not to know how to suck properly. Well, Miss Thing politely proved him wrong and drank every drop!!! She then followed with a burp that would have made a truck driver blush! Later that night, during our skin to skin time, she not only lifted her head completely off my chest and changed directions TWICE, she began rooting. So the nurse decidedit would be a good time to try nursing. Jordyn latched right away! She has nursed about 4 times since then! My milk still isn't totally in, so they began supplementing with formula today, and my chunky little monkey has been loving it!

Everything has been progressing steadily, Jordyn is so strong and obviously determined to come home to Mommy, Daddy, and her big brothers. Thanks for all the continued thoughts and prayers for our little girl. They seem to be doing the trick! Here's an updated picture!
