Favorite baby item

A friend of mine gave me a bunch of gifts in a storage bin at my shower and it was the best gift! I am now making a storage bin full of baby items for another friend that i could not love without. Right now I have a sleep sheep, burp cloths, sleep sack and soothies. What is your favorite baby item that I could add to my list?

Re: Favorite baby item

  • Gripe water (I never would've bought it myself, but I'm glad I have it!), wipes (boring, but we've been going through them waaaay faster than I expected), and swaddle blankets!

baby sleepers WITH MITTEN CUFFS.  God I hate putting mittens on Auli.  Sleepers that include the mitten cuffs are our favourites!

  • Gowns, miracle blanket, handmade burp cloths, Ergo, belly bandit for mom
  • I also love the Boon grass dry rack. I had one of those multi tiered ones with #1, and it always fell apart. Love the grass!
  • I'm also a big fan of the waterproof changing pad liners like these.

We have 9 of them, and having them (and so many of them!) has definitely helped keep our many surfaces better protected.

  • Sleepers w zippers and the little hand covers, A&A swaddle blankets, sleep sacks, and those gerber cloth diapers to use as burp rags.

Less glamorous? A friend came by a couple days after we had DD with a basket with gel breast pads, regular breast pads, tucks, protein snacks, and a couple other things like that. It was awesome.

  • A&A blankets - my new go to gift for showers. Another vote for gripe water and gas drops (I like to have both on hand). Little scissors - I would have never guessed I would be using those to cut nails over baby clippers.

Maybe a nice big water bottle for mom to keep close by, Chapstick and her favorite candy/snacks? Those are things I find myself keeping close by at all times.
  • I love my nursing tanks and Johnson's nursing pads (they are thick and absorb a lot, which is great for my super leaky boobs).

Nuk Pacifiers, K'Tan, RnP and LOTS of those little soft blankets for baby. Also handmade burp rags or receiving blankets.
  • I realize it's typically a priceier item but some type of carried for around the house/grocery shopping etc. I never imaginedy LO would want to be held so much and having a baby carrier has been the only way I manage to get some of my household chores done when LO gets tired of being in the swing/bouncer.

  • Here's my must have list: Homemade burp rags from flannel, mam pacifiers, a new pair of yoga pants, nursing pads, gripe water or gas drops, socks or booties made for a newborn, sleep sac

  • A friend bought me a blanket and burp cloths from augie and Lola on etsy and they are so soft. Also the gel pads were a life saver the first few days of breast feeding. Nail clippers with a light on them (I think mine are safety first). Nursing bra or tank top.
  • Beanies (skull caps), I second the microwavable sani bags, baby dish soap, bottle scrubber, a 2nd Boppy cover (they are in constant rotation), nice soft baby towel and hand cloth, lavender stress-less oil, sun shade for car window, paci clips (the ones that clip to clothes)...

  • Another vote for SwaddleMe.  They're great!  A&A swaddle blankets (though we mostly use them as blankets for the car seat).  I just gave my BFF a breastfeeding gift basket with the My Brest Friend pillow (love it!), nursing pads (disposable and reusable) and lanolin.

  • We had friends do something similar for us and it was great! Even included stuff they had leftover from their babe. Everything was appreciated!
Things I appreciated that I wouldn't have thought of...
Reusable/washable nursing pads -though would have lived disposable too, Earth Mama Bottom Balm, Nose Frieda booger sucker, Baby Legs leg warmers, and chux pads - the disposable piddle pads.
  • The disposable changing pad covers were a lifesaver early on when she peed or pooped every time the diaper came undone. They're also great for the diaper bag. Also, a reusesble water cup with a straw.

More practical: night lights and a small clock for the nursery.

  • Saline nose spray, gas drops, Vaseline, rectal thermometer, another vote for gripe water. SIL gave me a little med supply basket and it was super helpful when LO got a cold at 2 weeks.

  • I think most of what I would say had mentioned... But two thingsi would highlight.. S couple of packs of prefold clothe diapers (great as burp clothes and to throw over little boys while changing to avoid getting peed on) and h&m kimono onesies (the are such great quality, don't have to go over the babies head and are now available online).
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • I'll add another vote for reusable breast pads! I also made by own moby wrap by just buying 5 yards of material and cutting it in half, and that could be less expensive (but maybe too big for your bin).

  • Many of these have already been mentioned, but these are the things I could not live without:

Ergo, changing pad liners, gerber cloth diapers (I put them in the middle of the changing pad liner to catch pee during diaper changes), A&A burpy bibs, A&A swaddle blankets, fleece halo sleepsack swaddle, WubbaNub pacifier, My Brest Friend pillow

  • My favorite (or most used items)- boppy, gerber prefolds, wubbanub pacifier, swaddle me, tummy time mat, nursing cover
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

  • I love my boppy so much
  • We LOVE the Halo Swaddles, they are a lifesaver and a lot easier to use than blankets. I also second the cloth diapers from Gerber that can be used for burp clothes.
  • Well my favorite thing wouldn't fit in the basket, it's the rock n play. It's the only thing (other than arms) that the baby will sleep in!
