1st Trimester

late period

So I am 2 days late, and i have some extremely light brown spotting. I took a test and it was negative, however with my first, i didnt  get a positive until i went to the doctor and they took a test... any ideas about this? It is only there in the morning and it is so light its only there when i wipe..

Re: late period

  • How do you know you're late? Were you charting BBT?
  • Loading the player...
  • no i didnt, how many days difference would that make? I didnt do it last time either, my doctor said it wasnt necessary since i was taking chlomid so i honestly didnt even think about it
  • If you were taking clomid you should know exactly when you ovulated because you should be monitored how many dpo are you?

  • Your son is only 5 months old, why the heck are you doing fertility drugs !?!?

thank you, and I am on it because for my first pregnancy we had a very difficult time conceiving. after a year of trying thats what my previous dr recommended. After the new dr read my file he asked if i wanted to skip right to trying chlomid because that is what worked for us last time. I asked his opinion and he left the choice up to me and my husband. We decided that was what was best for us.
  • You do what you feel is right for you and your family don't explain yourself Ta anyone you made a choice and it your choice to make :) best of luck to u

thank you, its always nice to hear positive feedback! :)
  • No problem. It wasn't my place to judge you nor anyone else. Good luck

  • Positive feedback is all well and good but it doesn't change the fact that the OP is not getting proper baseline testing or monitoring. There should not be a question of what's happening when you're on fertility drugs.

OP, please do some research on the drugs you are taking and think twice about continuing with this doctor if you are not pregnant at this time. Clomid is no joke and it should be done with an RE, not an OB. One who is willing to administer it properly.

  • How do u know she jumped straight to fertility treatment she never said that you simply jumped to a conclusion and started judging a process the has nothing to do with u directly. Instead of being rude u could have approached it a different way.

Because many people are simply impatient and want to skip to drugs for a quick fix when they don't need them. It is an unnecessary medical cost that costs everyone in the long run.

Going straight to treatments is not always suggested, especially when unmonitored Clomid worked last time. I'm going to guess you had zero testing and monitoring that time as well since you didn't know that is REQUIRED for that drug. Both of your doctors are idiots and put you at great risk for some very serious side effects. Clomid is not candy.

Unless you are not ovulating and that was the same thing that happened last time, you have no reason to be taking meds already. Wait a year like you are supposed to.

actually that is the problem, i dont ovulate. I have PCOS, endometriosis and a blocked tube...
  • My point is you didn't have to be rude, there are different ways to express your opinion and concerns. what does my spelling or text talking have to do with the conversation its irrelevant

Her child is 5 months. It is physically impossible that she has been trying for a year.

    STOP TEXT TALKING.

and we tried for a year for my first pregnancy...why are you being a judgemental bitch?

I'm using my phone and it didn't show nothing about her having a 5 month old son so I didn't know that!.

so unless you have my medical file sitting in front of you, you should probably keep your rude comments to yourself. I personally dont care because you a stranger but you are going to lose friends and hurt relationships by doing that.

Name calling is a bannable offense according to the terms of service.

Care to apologize or attempt that sentence again?

And you were asked a question. A simple answer like the one you provided would suffice. The white night that is stirring up bullshit is the real issue here.

i apologize. as you probably know getting pregnant can be stressful and having others judge just makes it worse. I am not a dr so i had no idea i was doing the wrong thing...i was just following dr orders.

have a good rest of your evening... :-\

actually that is the problem, i dont ovulate. I have PCOS, endometriosis and a blocked tube...

This is my exact diagnosis (plus MFI, just to make it really fun).

Since you were able to conceive just with intercourse last time it's a good sign that your conditions might not be very severe. 1/6 women have PCOS, and most don't even know it.

How did they diagnose the endo and blocked tube? Did you have an HSG and a laparoscopy?

You really do need to be properly monitored on clomid. It's pretty important, because that drug can actually seriously damage your fertility if it's causing adverse effects unchecked, and the only way to check that is through regular blood work and ultrasounds while you're taking it. It's also most effective when you can properly time intercourse with it.

When we started trying for a second we went right to fertility treatment - but we can only conceive with IVF (our conditions are on the more severe end and I've had multiple surgeries to treat them, and we've both been on a shitton of drugs for the past few years).

Please find a reproductive endocrinologist if this cycle doesn't work out and you're considering taking clomid again.

Many women with PCOS find that their cycles become more regular after having carried a baby to term. You're still pretty fresh out from that birth, and it might be worth it to give your body a little more time to regulate from giving birth. I assume you're no longer breastfeeding since you've started taking fertility drugs, so it might not be a long wait for a better behaved cycle.

Whatever you do, please see a doctor who will properly watch you. Trust me, the last thing you want to add to that mix is a permanently thinned lining, another blocked tube, a damaged ovary or two (or lost ovary or two), or any of the other things that can happen while on clomid. Take care of yourself.

I had both to diagnose when i was 13 - I had another to check on it when i was 20 and a third after the birth of my first to see if it got better or worse. I guess it can go either way or nothing could change.
as it stands it is no better or worse from the time i was 13.
when i was on chlomid the first time, if it didnt work after 5 cycles they were going to go and unblock the tube but said it was surgical so they wanted to try everything else first.

i also had no idea i was taking chlomid "unmonitored" because the dr prescribed it and told me what to do... I WILL be finding a new dr now that i have been told the seriousness of it. I just had no idea..

Did they also happen to mention that there is a lifetime limit to how many clomid cycles you can do? Some doctors will do up to 9, but typical is 6. It truly is a serious drug.

  • yes , after ruling everything else out - which included getting my apendix out, that is what the dr suggested. I obviously didnt make the decision myself, my mom listened to what the dr said as well... - this is the dr who delivered my first child but moved out of state. I loved that dr, i was with her for over 12 years and i was bummed i had to find someone new and now  i have to find someone else because this schmuck obviously doesnt have any idea...
