Progesterone and aspirin anxiety

Tomorrow I turn twelve weeks. I'm so terrified to stop taking the progesterone and aspirin. I feel like they have gotten me this far this pregnancy. I had two early miscarriages before this pregnancy. I wasn't taking either of these meds with them.
When are y'all stopping these meds?
Did any of you take both with past pregnancies?

Re: Progesterone and aspirin anxiety

  • I didn't take progesterone until this pregnancy (began day after ovulation). My current refill will run out around 14 weeks. I will stop then. RE said to stop at end of First Tri.

  • I haven't been on aspirin but was on progesterone until 11 weeks with this pregnancy and the last one. I quit cold turkey at 11 weeks and everything was fine both times. The placenta takes over by 12 weeks so progesterone isn't a concern anymore. I also had a m/c before I was taking progesterone so I understand the worry, but LO will be fine. I have heard of women taking baby aspirin throughout their pregnancies for certain reasons but I'm not sure why. Maybe the ladies on PgAL would have some insight.

  • I'm on both progesterone and baby aspirin! Like PPs mentioned, progesterone through first try. Baby aspirin until week 36, however. Baby aspirin helps with any potential clotting disorders which are known to cause late losses. However, you want to make sure you stop taking it before going into labor.

  • I'm on progesterone until just over 10 weeks (next week, when my re-fill run's out). RE said at this point the placenta has taken over and there is nothing to worry about.

I'm also on baby aspirin and will take it as long as it's safe. I plan to talk to the midwife about this when we meet next week.

  • I stopped taking the intramuscular injections at 7 weeks and just stopped the suppositories today at 11 weeks. I'm also on a baby aspirin but will continue on with that as well as daily Lovenox injections as I have a clotting disorder.

  • I'm on both as well & understand your anxiety. I've lost multiples and a singleton this year. Just need to ask questions and trust the Dr. Be your own advocate. We can ask them about checking progesterone levels periodically throughout right?
  • Thank you ladies!

I took aspirin for 1 month straight after miscarriage back in march & have been using a progesterone cream twice daily since the miscarriage. Im now 11 1/2 weeks pregnant and my doctor says to keep using the progesterone until 13 weeks to be safe just in case my due date is a little off. I am a little nervous about discontinuing but I will be sure to have them check my levels throughout to be safe. My issues are due to having had the Mirena for 5 years.

  • I'm so grateful for this thread - I'm having a tiny meltdown about stopping the PIO - and RE had me take the last dose yesterday - at exactly 10 weeks. I'm going to have the OB monitor because we have had many losses. My new RE did not have me take baby aspirin though. (previous guy did)
