3rd Trimester

exercise in 3rd tri

Just wondering what different mommas-to-be are doing for exercise in their 3rd tri?
I've been doing pretty low-intensity stuff such as walking or low level on the recumbent bike at the gym.
Can anyone else share what they've been doing and how often?  Thanks.

Re: exercise in 3rd tri

  • I alternate between walking, pilates, and strengthening (usually abs and legs). I get in at least 30 minutes of exercise everyday. I will also add yoga on the days when I don't practice pilates.
Definitely trying to stay fit to prepare for labor! :)

  • Doing pre natal yoga twice a week still and walking 1.5 miles every night

  • Walking, yoga and strength training. I may be getting fatter and slower, but I'm going to maintain my muscle tone, damnit!
  • I'm with HFrizzle.  But I am on bed rest so I'm not allowed to do much of anything.   :-q

  • I walk the neighborhood with my husband. Depending on how I feel it's anywhere from 1-1.5 miles. Usually 5-6 days a week.

  • Same as everyone else, walking and then some infrequent yoga and stetching exercises, also a bit of swimming. Luckily i live in a tropical climate so can walk and go to the beach/pool all year long. B-)

  • I rotate between two pregnancy workout videos, each about 40 minutes long, the elliptical, and the treadmill.  I do pregnancy yoga, lots of walking, and when I can get outside, I run up to 2 miles (but now I have to circle around my house so I can pee).  Definitely feeling pretty tired lately though, but trying to keep it up.

  • I did dance fitness classes until about 34 weeks. Started having ankle pains so mostly walking now when I can.

I've been doing prenatal workout DVDs. There are different sessions for Upper Body, Lower Body, Yoga for Flexibility, Yoga for Toning, Cardio, etc.  I try to do something 4 - 5 days per week. But, I'm starting to slow down. What seemed easy 4 weeks ago is really making me winded now.

  • I'm running 3 miles/5days a week.  I feel pretty good and I actually feel better than I did at the beginning of my second trimester.  I had terrible ligament pains back then, but they have seemingly vanished as I make my way toward the end of this pregnancy.

  • Walking for about a half hour almost everyday (even though I'm feeling worn out much quicker than I did a few weeks ago).  Toning exercises with light weights every other day.  Prenatal yoga about once every other week.
  • I am on the elliptical for an hour 5 days a week.
  • I have been walking 2 miles about 3 or 4 times a week
  • I do a combo of yoga, body pump with free weights, and cardio at a moderate speed on the elliptical. I try to get in 4, 50 minute workouts a week.

  • I do zumba once a week, curves circuit 1-2 a week, tai chi omce a week, and to walk once.
  • It is exercise just for me to get out of the bed! I wish I could have exercised but I've had pelvic pain most of the pregnancy and the more I walk, the more it hurts...
  • My exercise consists of trying to get off the bed or couch, frequent trips to the bathroom for going pee, poop, or throwing up (I feel like I am always in there for one of the three), and chasing after my toddler. I was way more active with DD then I have been with this LO and I have gained less this time around. lol.

  • The recumbent bike is fantastic, I didn't like how much my newly-larger parts bounced all over when running/EFXing. I still do all my weight machines at the gym, just dropped most of the weights by 20 lbs and don't do anything that puts pressure on the belly or chest. No ab work other than planks. Free weights for arms and back work outs.  And prenatal yoga 2x a week to stay limber.
  • Anyone else get a little crampy now after exercise? I had a little bit of a menstrual cramp feeling during my workout today and I completely stopped. Baby is still dancing around and happy. Is this normal?
  • I am with you on that one!
  • At almost 39 weeks, I am still spinning and weight training. I had a good gym schedule before pregnancy, was doing a boot camp until the second trimester. I've had to slow down a little and modify some of the exercises a little, abs are done on a yoga ball instead of my back. I swear staying active has made my pregnancy a breeze and kept weight gain somewhat minimal. Couldn't imagine it any other way. Hoping for an easy delivery!
  • walking on treadmill for about 20 minutes and stationary bike for 10 minutes, weight training with lighter hand weights...I try to get to the gym at least 3 times a week!
