LG Front Loading Washer -routine?

I got a new washing machine today, and I'm afraid it's going to mess up my diapers... If you have an LG HE front loader, what's your routine?

Re: LG Front Loading Washer -routine?

  • Mine is 4 years old, so it might be a little different.

I do a warm rinse and spin cycle with no spin. (To rinse the poop and pee out so you aren't washing in really dirty water). Turning the spin off will get your diapers cleaner since there will be more water.

Then I do a normal cycle on hot wash with cold rinse with a 1/2 tablespoon of tide. With the extra water and extra rinse buttons pushed.

Then I do a normal cycle on warm wash and warm rinse with extra water and rinse, no soap.

I had to decrease my tide a ton. I was having a hard time getting the soap rinsed out, so I gradually decreased it. You will have to play with it and figure out what works for you. I was having a little bit of amonia stink in my AIOs and bamboo inserts from soap not rinsing out.

  • I have a new LG HE FL.  At first I was doing a speed wash with no detergent/bulky wash on hot with detergent/speed wash with no detergent. DH thought this was insane (3 washes) so now I'm trying one wash on hot with detergent with a pre-rinse and two additional rinses.  I haven't tried the second routine long enough to know if it will cause any problems.  I did the first routine for 7 weeks with no problems.  I've only done the second routine 3 times now and no problems so far but it's probably too early to tell.  I was using All Free and Clear Military and just switched to Rockin Green because I'm switching DS to mostly one-size microfiber diapers.  His NB diapers were almost all natural fibers.  I heard (not sure where) that microfiber diapers are harder to clean so that's why I switched to a specialized detergent.
  • Yeah DH will kill me if our new washer needs three cycles when our old one only needed two. One weird thing is that I can only choose extra water or extra rinse. You can't have both. Thanks for the advice so far. :)

  • I would choose extra water, then.
The rinse load is only 6 minutes on my machine. It's really no big deal.

  • I have a new LG he fl. Yup, can't so extra rinse ANd water plus. Blah! And the rinse + spin option is only in warm. Boooo. My routine:
    1. Delicate cycle, cold, heavy soil, water plus, no detergent
    2. Bulky/large cycle, hot, extra rinse, Tide to line 1 or 2

Have had no problems and no funky smells, no rashes. Hope this helps!
