he is just a few days away from 2 months... he has a cough, sneeze, and stuffy nose (sounds congested). He is still eating. His sleeping is a little disturbed. Is it time to call the doc or should I wait for his 2 month check up on Tuesday?
I am of the see how it goes camp. As long as my LO is eating and peeing I don't take them to the dr. There are exceptions such as trouble breathing or constant screaming or an insane fever. If it's just a cold there really isn't anything they can do. It sucks having sick little ones hang in there.
Like pp said, there isn't much you can do for a cold. However if he runs a fever, call the pedi. For his nose, use the drops and the bulb. I recommend using a humidifer when he sleeps and perhaps have him sleep on an incline. Hope he feels better.
Cold doesn't cause colds. There are a lot of colds and respiratory infections going around it seems. Suction his nose and run a humidifier in his room. The only way this would require a visit to the doctor is if he starts running a temperature or develops a cough that is barky or sounds like it's bringing up gunk. Unfortunately, my experience in this is more than I want to admit. We've had this particular illness in various forms, since August 1st. Hope he feels better.
My 5 wk old has a cough and congestion. The dr told me if her temp hits 100.4 rectally she needs to be seen immediately. Otherwise use a humidifier and snot sucker and saline drops and there's really nothing else that can be done for a cold.
Unless he's running a fever there's no reason to call the doc. However, you might want to call and see if they want to reschedule his two month visit. They won't want to do vaccinations if he's already ill.
My LO just had a cold , cough n runny nose last week which she caught from me n her dad . She's 6 weeks and as soon as I noticed the runny nose, I ran a hot shower / steam room and sat in the bathroom with her. The steam clears her nasal passages . I also bought Vicks liquid drops ($8.99) from Walmart and mixed it in her humidifier and honestly that did the trick!! She was much better by the next morning. Also buy saline drops and boogie wipes to wipe her nose ( they have saline in them) and won't irritate her nose. So by the time we went to the next morning she was ok and there's really nothing that he could recommend. Mama knows best in most circumstances. All the best..
There is literally nothing a doctor can do unless the baby has something treatable with antibiotics or something concerning, like a fever. A cold is just a cold and will run its course.

That's true but my pedi wants to see every baby under 3 months old at the very first sign of a cold. They monitor congestion in babies that small very closely because it can rapidly become pneumonia or it could be caused by something like RSV. This was part of a newborn handout they gave us with both DS and DD. It really can't hurt to call the office and ask.
If nothing, spray saline up the nose and then suction it out, cool mist humidifier in the room and sometimes turn the shower as hot as you can it and close the door for a steam room.
Re: advice plz. FTM. sick baby?
