Going to the Texas state fair today....

And thinking its a terrible idea. I'm taking 50 of my students and we're staying at the fair for about 4-5 hours and then watching The Lion King. I won't get back to school until 11pm and then have to wait until every kiddo is picked up before I start my 30 minute drive home. And it's kind of cold and I'm already sick. Sigh.... Anyways. Any Texas mommies already been this year? Any recommendations on food or attractions?

Re: Going to the Texas state fair today....

  • I went a couple weeks ago when I was visiting family and friends in Dallas. I grew up there so we would go every year. 50 kids sounds like a handful! Not sure how old the kids are but there is a kiddie ride section for younger children near Midway. How about checking out the science exhibits, butterfly garden, animal farm, or even the free bird show? I 'd definitely recommend the bird show. It's near the aquarium and football stadium. As for food, I always stick with the classics: Fletcher's corndogs, funnel cakes, dill pickle, roasted corn, and turkey legs. Dickel's in front of the Cotton Bowl Stadium has the BEST turkey legs! All the new fried food made me nauseous. Have fun!
