Puking baby-- advice

Ds vomited in his sleep last night. He has been acting completely normal this morning, but then vomited again after breakfast. I gave him half of a pedialyte Popsicle and he's napping now. No fever. Do I take him to the dr? He's really sensitive to dehydration because of his single kidney, but he has had 2 wet diapers this morning. Do I do the brat diet with a baby? Any advice is appreciated.

Re: Puking baby-- advice

  • Definitely call your nurse line, but I don't think he needs to be rushed in. He needs to have 1 wet diaper every 8 hours, so watch for that. He needs about 1 tablespoon of liquid an hour.
For now I would do a modified BRAT diet, stay away from dairy and overly processed stuff.

  • Thanks Holly & Anne! So far no puking in the last 5 hours. Hopefully we're in the clear!

  • We had the same thing about a week ago, but he had a very low-grade fever as well. I thought he was better after going all day without throwing up and then he didn't hold dinner down that night. It lasted about 2 days for us. I just tried to give him 1/2oz of water every 20-30 minutes, and then switched to milk per our Pedi's recommendation. He held it down OK that way and never got dehydrated.

I hope he feels better soon!
