How common is it to have no morning sickness?

I haven't had even a hint of it yet (I'm tentatively at 5 weeks). I'm not complaining, believe me, but it seems like the one symptom everyone else has.

Re: How common is it to have no morning sickness?

  • From what I read, 75% of women will get morning sickness, so that means potentially 25% don't get it at all. You might luck out and not have it! But you also might get it a little later on (it can start anywhere from 4 weeks to 8 weeks). Hope you miss it overall!

  • You could easily still get it since you are only 5 weeks. Morning sickness usually doesn't hit till around 6-8 weeks.
  • I'm only 5 weeks and not expecting it to start for at least another week or so. Some women get it earlier, some don't get it at all, but I'm not worried. I don't have a lot of symptoms yet. Just remind yourself that morning sickness is not the be-all-end-all of pregnancy symptoms and symptoms by themselves have little bearing on whether you have a healthy pregnancy.

  • Youre still pretty early. May still get it. But I had some morning sickness but not nearly as bad as other woman

    It's a BOY

  • I'm 14 weeks and havnt had any morning sickness at all
  • I don't have morning sickness but I get nauseous if I get overtired, thirsty or hungry.

Secondly, though, MS isn't the same for all. Not everyone gets major bouts of nausea and vomiting. Other people experience it as:
    • food aversions
    • indigestion
    • burps/acid reflux
    • queasiness that doesn't really advance
In that case, I guess I've had some mild MS. Because I just had no appetite for two weeks -- it's just now coming back. And there are some foods -- former favorites -- that just don't seem appealing to me right now.

I'll take this type of MS over puking every day, that's for sure.

    Ummmmmm.....
  • I am 6w3d with twins and no sickness yet. I was wondering the same thing.
  • Fortunately, I never had morning sickness at all. I had a slight aversion to cilantro for a week or two (which I only noticed because I love salsa), but other than that, I was pretty lucky this time. Differs for everyone.

It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.
  • I am now 9wks and have not had any, unless I am hungry I get a bit illish and start feeling icky, but that was common for me before I conceived as I have acid reflux. With my first I only experienced ms a handful of times and it was mostly pretty mild.

  • Some women don't have morning sickness until they are 6 weeks and some are lucky to not get them at all. So don't worry
  • I have heard/read the same 25% stat mentioned by pp, but I also think that 75% encompasses women who do not get ms severely.

Yeah it's like half of that 75% that get it so bad they throw up.

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • I had some pretty bad M/S the first month I was pregnant, right after I found out. Smells that bothered me made me throw up and in the morning it would wake me up out of a dead sleep at about 5am. I only threw up a handle full of times (maybe 2-3, 4 tops..I didn't really care to keep track). I'm 10 weeks today and it's much better. Occasionally if eat too fast or a big meal, I get a little sick but I don't throw up. My biggest complaint has been my GI issues since getting pregnant, (TMI ALERT.....) I have awful bowel movements even if I eat the most bland of foods. I read in one of my books that this can also be a form of M/S. Hope that helps!  Oh and by the way, my mom had none, nor did any women in my family. My aunt and my mother had no idea they were pregnant until about 2 months when they realized they 1. had a missed period and 2. had very sore boobs. So who knows! Maybe it's genetic?
