Parenting after a Loss

What the heck happened to my good sleeper? (andreahshields)

First of all, thanks everybody for reaching out to me yesterday.  You ladies are so wonderful and such a great support team, love you all!

Now sorry, I feel like I'm always complaining lately, but does anybody know what happened to my good sleeping baby?  The past few nights have been awful!  We still swaddle and I have a feeling that may be part of the problem.  She is big enough now to wiggle her way out of the miracle blanket and then she'll roll herself onto her tummy and start looking around.  Although last night that meant she bumped her head on the crib railing too.  Poor baby!  Besides more teething, I just don't get what would cause her to change her habits so suddenly.  2 months ago when the first two teeth popped through, she still slept from 8-6 and last night she was up at 10:30, 1:30, and 3:30.  We haven't changed anything during the day. She's eating the same, napping the same at daycare.  I'm guessing it's just a growth spurt or a phase but Mama is tired today.

  • Poor thing ):  Could she be coming down with something or may its very prolonged teething?  C had not been herself for *weeks* like we are talking very poor napping, and waking up 2x/night, turns out she has 4 top teeth just sitting there under the skin wreaking havoc.  I didn't think teething could go on like that for weeks.
That could be it.  The first two popped up so suddenly and I've been feeling around and I do feel the top teeth but they haven't broken through.  I did use teething tablets last night but not until the 3:30 wake up so I don't know if that's why she didn't wake up again or if she was just so exhausted.  I'll try them again tonight if I need to.

  • Thanks everyone!  I was planning to stop the swaddle tonight anyway.  I just worry about her bumping her head with all her moving and rolling around.  We do use the Magic Sleepsuit sometimes, but only for naps and it doesn't let her roll around which I think frustrates her more.

  • It could be teething still, plus rolling on their tummy sometimes takes an adjustment. It took Jackson awhile to learn how to sleep on his tummy. Everytime he would roll on it he would wake up. I'm not sure on swaddling we never really did it after 2 months. He hated it. Hope it gets better. I know CIO isn't ideal for everyone but we finally went that route. But I also didn't start til 10 months so you have time.

  • Oh no! Bad nights are terrible, especially when you get several in a row. My DD is about 50/50 split between excellent night sleeping and horrible night sleeping. The bad nights are almost always teething or a milestone about to be reached. Could P be learning to crawl? That's what my little L is doing. She wakes up on her belly, looks around, then tries to crawl in her sleepy state until she's frustrated and cries for me. I've used the PUPD method about a month ago when she was relying on me as her sleep crutch, and I'll probably have to do it again soon.
