Working moms, how long is your commute?

How many miles? City or rural? I've got a hella long commute three days a week (90 miles one way, 1 hr 45 min) and a not-as-bad commute two days a week (45 miles one , 1 hr). I've been doing this for five years, and not sure if it's something I can keep doing. Anyone with me?

Re: Working moms, how long is your commute?

  • That's awful :-( My commute is four minutes one way. I clearly live in a pretty small town. I grew up in Dallas-Fort Worth, TX so I am familiar with those long commutes, but I am thankful that's not my life anymore :-/ I can't imagine fitting that into my schedule.

  • When LO was born I had about a 45 minute commute, pre-baby this was no problem. After having DS my husband and I decided that we would really like to get more time back in my day, so when LO was 6 months old we moved so I would have a 5 minute commute. It was awesome. Then about a month ago I was offered a promotion, about 45 minutes away from my current location. So I am back to the 45 minute commute. We plan to move again when our lease is up in May and buy a house near my current work. Hopefully this location lasts longer.

  • About 20 min during rush hour. It is only 5 miles and I can make it 10 during off times. City driving.

  • 9 miles/20 minutes

My old job was 35 miles/60-90 minutes and I knew that wasn't going to work post-baby.

  • 17 mins. I am lazy and this is the number one reason we can't move to the burbs.  The commutes would kill us.

  • We just recently moved, so it's about 20 minutes without traffic, 35-45 minutes with traffic.  As your LO gets older and needs to have more of a structured meal, it gets more difficult.  I'm scared for next year when DD1 starts kindergarten!

  • Used to be 15 min. Now there is a bunch of construction on my main route AND the alternate route. So now it's more like 45 min. Damn construction.
  • About 20 minutes. That's taking the long way to drop DD off at my moms.

  • It takes me about 15 minutes from home to work.  Daycare is on the way to work, just down the street from my house so maybe 20 minutes with daycare drop off/pickup

  • I thought mine was long, but not quite as bad as yours... normally 45-1hr, can be worse, can be better depending on traffic.  I only do the daycare pickup, so it's a little shorter in the morning with no drop off, but traffic is worse in the AM.

Around 25 miles one way, takes me about 35 minutes on average. Mostly highway. I couldn't handle your commute @babycarryingvessel, but I can barely stand mine.
