Footprint ornaments

Have you made any of your LO yet? I want to make hand and footprint ornaments for our tree closer to Christmas. However, I'm wondering if any of you have experience making the dough yourself or do you buy a kit from somewhere?

  • I made the dough myself. Found a recipe online for it. Made a fathers day gift for SO. It didn't turn out the best as I made it to thick and it cracked but it was still fun!

  • I made DSs for his first Christmas with Crayola Air Dry Clay. I don't have a picture of it but they turned out really cute. I poked a hole in the top before letting it dry and then tied a red ribbon through it to use as an ornament. Made one for ourselves, my parents and ILs. I still want to write his name and date on the back in gold or silver marker. I'll probably do the same with DD.

Buy the clear glass ball ornaments, some elmers glue and very fine glitter.

Then paint LOs hand/foot with glue. Press it against the ornament, then sprinkle the ball with glitter. It will only stick to where their hand was.

Then use a sharpie to write Their name and the year.

Looks adorable and super cheap. The ornaments usually come in a six pack so you have plenty to make grandparent gifts!!

This is a great idea! I'm gonna have to try that as well!
  • I love the glitter idea!
Martha has a line of safe glass paint. We used it on vases.
