My mom will be spending time with us after the twins are born (not overnight), but a friend of mine recommended hiring a postpartum doula as well, especially since my toddler will be running around (in other words my mom and I might just have our hands full of kids the whole time!).
Has anyone else hired a postpartum doula? Was it worth it? What sorts of things did you ask her to do for you? (Laundry, housework, meals ...?) I am getting ready to set up a phone interview with one and am realizing that I'm relatively clueless.
ETA: This might sound like a silly thing to worry about, but I am something of an introvert and am worried that having a non-family member around so soon after bringing the twins home might be tiring even if she is a lot of help ... is that weird??
Re: Postpartum doula?
I had PPD after my daughter was born and it was a struggle for me to keep up with everyhting when she was nursing round the clock...I regret not getting one with her...but now with twins, we definitely are.
As far as the introvert thing, I worried about the same thing, but by the time my twins were here I had lost all of my inhibitions - I used to joke about asking the UPS guy, or the random strangers taking cans from our recycling bin to watch the babies so I could have a break. Trust me - you will welcome the help!
