Success after IF

FET questions.

Hi everyone, I am new to this board but used to be on the infertility board. DH and I are starting to talk about ttc #2. After 2 failed IVF cycles our third one brought us our angel :) we also have three frozen embryos from this last cycle. We have an appointment with our RE next Thursday! In so excited but also a bit nervous. I don't know a lot about FET and was wondering if any of you ladies had successful FET and how long did the process take? Thank you all in advance. :)

Re: FET questions.

  • We did a successful FET in February. My protocol was a little different than a lot of ladies on here bc I am DOR, so they didn't do Lupron.

I started BCPs in early January, did a saline sonogram, started Estradiol after my period, had a baseline ultrasound, had a midcycle ultrasound and started PIO and then had my transfer Feb 14. It was easier compared to a fresh cycle, but still very stressful.

    Good luck!

  • I pretty much attempted every FET protocol in the book. I was postponed too many times to count and cancelled twice. We finally made it to transfer with a natural FET cycle - no. meds except PIO. We have four and a half month old twin daughters from that cycle. GL!

    Unexplained Infertility

After two Clomid cycles, three injectable IUI cycles, two IVFs, two miscarriages, and one lap surgery, IVF #2 has brought us our little boy!

Surprise! Baby #4 is due in March!
  • I just had my transfer yesterday for FET #1. The whole process takes about 6 weeks from start to beta. On day 21 of the cycle prior to the transfer cycle, I started lupron. After my lupron AF, I had my baseline and started vivelle patches. I had a second u/s mid-cycle to check my lining. I stopped lupron on day 14 and started PIO on day 15. The transfer of my blast was on day 20 and beta is 9 days later.

Compared to IVF, this has been a lot "easier". Much less bw and u/s and without the stimulation meds, I physically felt a lot better. Good luck to you!

How many did you transfer to result in your twin girls. This is also something were thinking about. Not sure how many to transfer.

  • I have been through 3 FETs.  All easy in comparison to a fresh IVF round.  No stim injections, much less monitoring (bloodwork and ultrasounds).  I didn't take lupron or OCPs prior.  CD2 I had an ultrasound and started oral estradiol twice a day.  I had a mid-cycle ultrasound to check my lining.  A few days prior to ET I took doxycycline and started my PIO.  All in all not a bad process in comparison.
I personally struggled emotionally with the fact that they embryos were frozen.  I have a science background and was just baffled by the whole process, almost to the point I didn't do it initially!  I still have a hard time conceptualizing it, but am always happy to go through an easier cycle.
I hope you have a great appointment and get to cycle soon!!!  Good luck!
