I learned today that only a few states celebrate this made up Hallmark holiday. For those of you that celebrate it, are you doing anything?

Does anyone have any suggestions on a delicious dinner I can make for DH and I? We don't do anything for Sweetest Day, or Valentine's Day in terms of presents or cards or things like that, but we typically either cook a good meal or go out to eat. For some reason this year I have no idea what to make...

I think it's a midwest thing. No I can guarantee DH has no clue it's tomorrow.

I am a cheese ball and love sweetest day. I got dh a card and am making him chocolate chips cookies. I will put a note on it "sweets for the sweet." He will likely do nothing for me which is fine.

Sweetest Day is like a Valentine's Day for men where women are supposed to be more the initiators. We've never celebrated it (DH & I) but I remember my Dad always getting my Mom flowers for it. :-)

I grew up in Iowa but didn't hear about it until I moved to Chicago. My DH and I don't celebrate Sweetest Day or Valentine's Day.

Never heard of it. I have heard of Steak and Knobber day, it's March 14th(allegedly). You're supposed to give your guy a steak and a bj.

I google'd it...it's only celebrated in the midwest...specifically Wisconsin, Ohio and Michigan and possibly parts of Illinois

I've heard of it and have quasi-recognized it in the past, but DH and I don't celebrate it now. We actually are going out for date night tomorrow, but it's just a coincidence that it's on Sweetest Day.

Originally from Michigan, currently in Illinois, and we celebrate. In school you could buy your sweetest a carnation for like $1, and it'd get delivered Glenn Coco style throughout the day. I will get H a card and his fav candy, and he probably won't remember, but will be suuuuuuper nice to me for the rest of the day after I hand over his goods.

IL here and I've heard of it but we don't celebrate. I am going out for a Girl's Night Out tomorrow. No sweets for us. A girl at work got flowers delivered from her H. Ugly ones. But still flowers.

Sweetest day you're just supposed to give sweets to your loved ones. I think the history of it has something to do with a candy company and orphans? Either way it's moderately popular in Buffalo and I'm sure my husband would never remember despite the signs in the grocery stores and the carnations and candy displays.

I did! (In 2011) Although I have to admit we had no idea that it was Sweetest day when we chose our date. We picked that day because of the fall foliage in NY.

I didn't even know it was a midwest thing!! Lol. Definitely advertised a lot around here (WI), but we don't really celebrate personally. Though the first flower dh ever bought me was a purple rose on sweetest day 14 years ago. So it is a little nostalgic for me.

Nah. I was there from 2002-2004. I was Wright State University in the I/O Psych program.
