Were home!!!!!!

After 52 days in the NICU our little Ella came home yesterday (10/13) at 37w2d old. She is doing fabulous. Me on the other hand, not so well. Every noise she makes scares me, I check on her breathing constantly, question everything...is she hungry? Is this poop normal? Is she hot/cold? Is she tired?
She came home on Vitamin D and iron but is a healthy little girl otherwise. The meds are very easy to add to BM and mix in a bottle. She's a champ. We are in love.
Hopefully my nerves will calm down in the next few days and I won't questions every little thing. We are sending thoughts, prayers and love to all our baby friends still in the NICU and happy and healthy thoughts to our NICU friends who are home.

    Yay! Congratulations! We definitely had some sleepless nights that first week, always worried that he'd pull his oxygen cannula out & stop breathing or something. It will get better, you'll get more comfortable! Although we've been home for 7 weeks and ill still occasionally check to see if he's breathing... :)
    Enjoy snuggling your LO at home!

    Congratulations! Such an amazing thing to have our babies home. Don't feel guilty if you miss the NICU nurses occasionally when you're sleep deprived and want a break, it's normal  ;)

    Yay!! Congrats :) Bring her home was the best day ever!! We're still getting the hang of things and getting to know each other too. Enjoy that little one!!

    Yay Ella!! Finally home with mommy and daddy!! Congrats! And check her as many times as you need to! The first night I kept the light on so I could see her :-P. It's been 4 months home and I still check if she's breathing every now and then! Oh and last night I asked DH over and over if it was too cold for her in the bedroom. The worry never ends!! Enjoy snuggling Ella all you want!

    Congratulations on your baby girl Ella coming home!

    I used to use a flashlight to check on my son when he was sleeping at night.  And it was a little easier for me to sleep if I could hear him breathing or grunting during the night.  Luckily, we just played Irish baby lullabies on our CD clock or used our sound machine so all of us could get to sleep. 

    It is a little bit different when you do not have the monitor to look at and now you just have to use your regular maternal instincts with taking care of your baby.  But it is better and more natural.  And now you can have more fun with your baby at home!!

Brown spotting, Beta 3735 11/25/09, Beta 5602 11/28/09. Anticardiolipin Antibodies now negative, still on baby asprin. On 100 mg of Prometrium (progesterone) until 10 weeks. Good heartbeat at 1st appt. 12/16/09. Started taking fish oil. Perigestational hemorrhage and red bleeding 12/17/09. 2nd Ultrasound-8 weeks, still a heartbeat 12/17/09. Baby measured 9 weeks, still a heartbeat 12/23/09. Good NT Scan on 1/8/10, heartbeat 164. EDD 7/28/10. TEAM BLUE! Aidan Thomas born on May 26, 2010. Baby #2, BFP 11/27/11, EDD 6/5/12. TEAM PINK! Noelle Elizabeth born 4/30/12. Blessing from God, Blessing from God, Blessing from God, Blessing from God.

    Oh and warning. Just when you get used to the preemie grunts they outgrow them and the silence will be deafening.

    Congratulations!!! It is a little scary, but so worth it.  Won't lie - we called the nurses at the NICU a couple times with stupid questions :)

    Someone told me to video her grunts because suddenly they'll be gone and you'll miss them.

    Congratulations!! I remember when we brought DS home he would sleep in a bassinnet next to our bed and we still had the video monitor on. Lol it definetly gets easier.
