LO's daily activities --with nanny

What does your nanny do with your little ones, or what do you expect nanny to do with little ones during the day? Around the early toddler stage (14-16 months). Nanny currently does not leave the house with them (only walks), so we are looking for activities they can do in the house. TIA!

Read at least 30 minutes/day, color, playdough, work on learning colors/shapes, dance party (turn on music and let the kids go crazy), duplo, blocks, play in the backyard

To the above, I would add cooking/baking activities where they watch and can help stir and dump things in if they are at that point yet. That can be fun.

Our nanny does lots of art projects with our kids, and has done this for a long time. Right now, they've been collecting leaves to make collages, mobiles, etc. They made a scarecrow for the front yard yesterday. When DD1 was younger, there was painting of pasta, then stringing on necklaces.

PP mentioned baking projects. I used to make batches of butter cookie dough and freeze it. On a bad weather day, I'd take some out of the freezer. DD could use her cookie cutters and rolling pin, then decorate the cookies later.

They have races around the yard, all of their walks around the neighborhood become "nature walks" where DD can collect things in a can to show us and discuss later (leaves, "weird" looking berries, even interesting rocks).

Painting with pudding is always fun.

If you are comfortable with them going out of the house, you could try a gym or music class (our township parks and rec dept has some great classes) or a free library storytime.

Lots of free play with some educational toys mixed in, walks outside, music time with CD's, reading books, LO helping to prepare snacks by getting out his bowl, crackers, etc. At that age our sitter was having DS help set up and clean up most games and meals so everything took 2-3 times longer than it otherwise would! It's good learning and really fills up the day but I am amazed by her patience!

I would expect an organized daily schedule that includes free play, sensory activities, music time, crafts, outdoor play, fine and gross motor activities, nap, meal/snack, etc.

ours went out just about everyday. They would go to the library, drop in play groups, local farms etc..I also signed them up for swimming lessons, gymnastics etc...At outings they met other nannies and kids and created their own play groups.

Our nanny would help me out by taking them to have their pictures taken or any other errand that would be helpful.
