Brushing my teeth....

Oh man! The gag reflex is on full alert! Holy cow! I can't even keep my tooth brush in my mouth for 10 seconds without gagging. Anyone else having this problem?

Re: Brushing my teeth....

  • Yes. I had to brush my teeth again this morning after my gag reflex ran amuk.

  • Yes! I had this happen yesterday and I thought it was just me. I was gagging for 5 min. and could not stop then felt sick for hours afterwards. Luckily it went away, but have been careful with brushing my teeth ever since.
  • Yes! Brushing my teeth makes me throw up. It takes about 20 min twice a day. I have to stop and drink water and not use much toothpaste.

  • Glad to hear its not just me. My stomach was even hurting this morning from it. :(
  • This happened to me earlier in my pregnancy. I started brushing my teeth in the shower and that helped a lot!
  • Oh this has been a problem almost the whole time for me. The other day I was the sickest I have ever been, and I'm nearly 15 weeks. Some days it's worse than others. I will try brushing them in the shower I guess!
  • I've been visiting my family for the last week. Well, this morning I puked in my parents sink while brushing my teeth. It was disgusting. I don't usually get that sick. I usually just gag a lot!
  • This happens to me, pregnant or not... However, it seems that my gag reflex trigger moves up to, oh, halfway up my mouth when I am pregnant, instead of just behind my molars. Ugh. :/ I feel your pain mama!

  • Only time I have puked is after brushing my teeth! It has happened 3 times so far.
  • It happens to me every time a brush my teeth - it was HORRIBLE during the first trimester. I drink a couple of sips of water when I feel the gag reflex acting up, and it seems to force it to behave.
  • I just had a huge gagging episode after breakfast- I desperately wanted to avoid throwing up, which I'm thankful I was able to do, but now I'm nervous to brush my teeth!

  • Yes - It makes me throw up and then I realize I just have to brush my teeth all over again haha. Womp womp.
  • Try brushing your teeth in the shower ladies. I promise it works wonders.
  • The first trimester, I would throw up every time I'd brush my teeth. Since I passed 14 weeks, I've been gagging but throwing up maybe twice a week. Hopefully it'll go away soon.
  • It's SOOO bad.  I'm another "brush in the shower" person.  It does work wonders.

  • I have been using my sonicare, but I've switched back to my regular toothbrush a few times for that very reason. I used to brush in the shower, and I may go back to that since it sounds like it helps some of you

  • Yes, my gag reflex can take a flying leap as far as I am concerned!  Sometimes it happens with the last bite of dinner or certain smell too.  So not enjoying!
