Friday's Questions

Ask away!!!
Son: Jackson, 11/02/06, stillborn due to PPROM and IUGR. Over the next ten years we had 9 miscarriages from 8-14 weeks. On May 18, 2016 my daughter, Ridley, was born. We're OADNBC.

Re: Friday's Questions

  • Since so many of us are feeling like crap right now, what are you doing to relieve your symptoms?

For me, sipping lots of lemon water is about the only thing keeping me going right now.  I've had mild success with hard candies, but not this time.  Same with eating pickles.  The vinegar usually helps with the nausea, but I just can't even stomach the smell of them right now.

  • I like to sleep flat on my back but lately, it feels like my insides are stretching and I have to sleep on one side or the other. Is anyone else finding that sleeping on your back is uncomfortable?

@ellyd14 - I haven't gotten true morning sickness yet but find that I'm nauseous when I first wake up. I eat dry cereal (Crispix) and it seems to help. Have you tried dry cereal or saltines? Just a thought...

I have been having some weird sleeping positions as well.  It used to feel the best to lie on my side, but now I am having some intense pulling and pressure and it feels better to lie on my back.  It changes every couples of days for me :)

Yeah, I keep some GF pretzels by my bed and I eat a few before even getting up just to keep from getting sick.  It's always worked for me in the past, but they put me on progesterone this time and it's making it REALLY bad.  I'm just sticking with not moving much. lol.

  • @EllyD14 I thought I was going to spew last night before bed. I sipped a ginger ale and although I still felt bad I was able to sleep it off.

@AandJ28 I'm usually a side sleeper but lately I've been sleeping on my stomach while I still can - ha!
  • @ellyd14 - hopefully it eases up for you soon.

  • @EllyD14, my nausea isn't horrible. I'm trying to have bland snacks (crackers, pretzel rods) to keep it at bay. When I do have it, I've been drinking either ginger ale or tea.

My question for the group: is anyone getting lightening crotch this early? I had it for a brief moment last night and this morning.

I thought lightening crotch was when baby would kick your vag?  Am I wrong?

Yes! I have had it here and there for the past two weeks. I don't remember getting it until the second tri last time.

I don't know if mine gets worse at night, but I definitely notice it more when I'm trying to go to sleep and I'm just so uncomfortable that I can't!

@lest12 it's hormonal surges at night. That's why a lot of women kick into labor at night. We get a surge of hormones at night that can cause cramps/ctxs.

I didn't ever think it was the baby kicking you. I thought people used that term to describe the shooting pains up your vag. Maybe I've been wring in my word usage, which is quite possible

  • My lower legs itch like crazy. Is this a pregnancy thing? It started about 5 weeks along, but it hasn't gotten any better. Dr. Google says it means my liver is failing so we aren't really getting along right now.

I thought it meant shooting pains too. I've had a couple already. This is earlier than last time.

I asked that yesterday or the day before.  Someone found that it's related to the estrogen during pregnancy or something.  But yes, it's a pregnancy thing.

This is really good to know.  I guess that explains the restless sleep,  general discomfort and insomnia.

Me too!  I usually just pass right out at night.  I am having the hardest time.

I feel like crap today. Peppermint altoids are taking the edge off. And ritz crackers.

Anyone having problems with migraines? I get them chronically but not typically while pregnant. Woke up this morning to not only the worst morning sickness I've felt yet but the beginnings of a migraine. Yay me. After getting DS off to school I'm going back to bed with an ice pack and a bucket. Any one have any special cures or advice to help?
Always.  Peppermint tea helps a little for a normal headache, but when I get a migraine I'm will take excedrine.  Some people won't because of the aspirin and caffeine, but I take aspirin regularly anyways (I have a medical condition and my doctor told me to) and I don't care about caffeine.  Make sure you're drinking plenty of fluids, you need more than you used to.

Haha no worries. Before I get my period I have little floaties too, I assume it's just some sort of shedding of whatever it is your body sheds. No one else gets this? Hm.

Are you on progesterone suppositories? My pee is full of floaties from the suppositories.
Nope. I'm not really worried just wondering wtf it is.

So, when I just peed there were little spots of orange discharge on my tissue.. thoughts? Bright orange, in no way shape or form could I construe it as red.
it can be related to your excretion of your PNVs

I didn't even think about that.  But yeah.  They can also make your poop neon green because of the iron.  Fun poop fact for you.

@TXSparky,  I itched like crazy my entire last pregnancy.  I didn't have a failing liver.  There is something called cholitis or something that's a failing liver, and it can be diagnosed through the itchies, but it's REALLY bad itching.  Mention it to your OB at your next appt. just so they know, but itchy is perfectly natural.  I used St. Ives moisturizer every morning and every night for 8 months.
