i just saw the new BG prints!! i might have to get a few, but we love the old elementals and their new design is not something i really want to explore. i wish i could combine new prints with old elemental design.... boooooo
my former favorites are albert and mirror.
jules, picadilly circus and top hat all look cute. picadilly is a little ubergirly for me, but it's cute enough. the mom-of-a-boy in me wants to gravitate toward the boyish prints only, but i forget i'm buying for a girl now, and i have free reign of anything!
Ahh, I use the 4.0's so I dont know anything about the Elementals.
I get that, right now I only have a boy in diapers and I don't know what's cookin inside yet so I'm going for neutral or boy at the moment. I only had the basic colors for my daughter.
Although, I will say that I don't have a problem putting a girly diaper on a boy if I already have them in the house. We have Albert too and I put Dazzel on my son's tush I love the Lovelace print and will get it if this babe is a girl.

We have WAY more cloth diapers than we need, which means that I can't justify buying more unless this LO is a girl. Since we are team green, I won't be buying new until April, plus I promised DH that I would only buy six more if we do have a girl.

Have any of you ever used a diaper service? FTM and we want to try prefolds and covers. We're thinking of doing a service until we get the hang of things a little. We have shared laundry so figured it would be easier at first. Any opinions?
@thomas930 We want to cloth diaper, so I was wondering: what made you go with those? Besides them being super cute, I mean! There are so many choices out there, it makes my head hurt!

The grovia newborns are awesome or about 8 weeks (tops). I loved having a few newborn diapers but had almost all OS. The newborn are nice because they are trim so they can fit nicely under NB sized clothing. But the second they outgrown the NB diaper beware because you will have leaks like crazy!
We got a Grovia NB this time around. My BG xsmall diaps were great last time, and I will be glad to have them again. AIOs are great for overnight or when you're out of the house (and this is coming from a diehard prefolder who used PFs and covers 90% of the time in the newborn days.)
ETA:
Right now I think my ridiculous NB stash is as follows:
36 newborn + 12 small prefolds 5 NB covers 4 Thirsties sz 1 Duo covers 5 RaRz knockoffs (AIOs) 4 BG XS AIOs 1 Grovia AIO 3 other newborn pocket diaps with adjustable rises (Thirsties and HH) 3 BG bamboo small fitteds for post-newborn-pre-OS phase 3 other NB fitteds

I know you didn't ask me but our decision was mainly based on saving money. My suggestion is to do a diaper trail to find out which ones you like then buy second hand! You'll save a ton.

@ColleenSwerb They are soo cute and small I used newborn pockets with my DS but just not Grovia. I thinking about adding them in as well since my babies stay in newborn size for about 3 months.
@pannk I haven't but I also am a SAHM and have my own laudry so that in itself probably makes it easier for me to do it myself. I have enough diapers to only have to do wash every other day, so for my kid that 25 diapers. They are all pocket style and the wash routine is pretty simple. Rinse on cold, wash on hot then if I remember to one extra rise to make sure all the soap is out. I also use regular Tide powder because its the best with my type of water, every single natural detergent was leaving soap residue and causing my diapers to leak.
@BiggerinRealLife It was a little bit of trial and error at first. I started with hybrid type cloth diapers (BumGenius Flips) but I found that I love the pocket style diapers best and having them all one size makes them last from about 10 lbs (baby weight) to potty training. I have a few all in ones and I like them but they tend to be a bit more expensive. Most of my stash is BumGenius just because I like the quality of the brand, for the price, but I also have and like Charlie Banana and Grovia.
@spasticfantastic I have a few of the BG xsmalls too and I don't know if its just the way they are but they didn't fit my newborn for about a month...mine are used so they are a bit older, not sure if they've changed since. I do like them when they fit though. I was thinking of adding Grovia newborns since the price isn't too bad and they seem to be nice and small. My FB and CB xsmalls fit great at the 2 week mark and lasted me about 3 months. Maybe my babes are just tiny though

When someone posts about new CDs, somewhere my DH starts crying because he foresees my credit card bill...
Haha mine too! I made a comment to one of my friends on facebook about the new prints and my DH happened to see it and the fact that I mentioned wanting them but not actually needing them and he surprised me by pulling them up on the computer and handing me on of the credit cards He said it wasn't a question, but told me to buy them. He knows me too well, I wont buy something that we don't need even if I really want it.

Y'all make me so jealous! DD was in CDs until she potty trained. DS, however, is so rashy that we have to use sposies so we can use the hard core creams

i birthed a 9 pounder, so that could definitely be it!! he was busting outta those puppies by 5-6 weeks!!
I love our grovia aio, they're my favorite. We have a few xs bg for newborn, andim going to flesh things out with some work horse fitteds, premie prefolds and covers I really like sized diapers for s and xs
Mama to a little girl born July 2011 and a little boy born April 2014!

We always did our own. We used both prefolds with covers and fitteds with covers for the newborn stage and then switched to pockets when DS was big enough and for daycare. Washed 1 load every 2-3 days. I could see a diaper service being a good thing if washing really is a hassle where you are, but if it's somewhat expensive, I don't think washing yourself would be that big of a hassle even with shared laundry since it's not like it's every day. If you do purchase your own prefolds, Green Mountain Diapers (https://www.greenmountaindiapers.com) is the only way to go, IMO.
100000% YES! GMD prefolds are the best. it's all i own!! orange edge for newborn, yellow edge for that inbetween phase where you're too big for newborns and too small to really fill out the OS diapers. (it's that 3-4 months old range)
I got a stash of g diapers from a friend and bought all new cloth inserts last week. I figured I would start with those and see how it goes. I would really like to CD most of the time.
@LittleLady77 G diapers were my gateway to cloth diapering. I will say that they can be tricky at first and have probably more of a learning curve than pockets, just keep in mind the when you start using them that the inner piece that holds the inserts makes a nice seal in the inner side of the baby's leg...if that makes any sense. I would also recommend looking at some Youtube videos that show how they are used.

@thomas930 that's great news to me. Thanks for the tips- they made sense. I totally want to CD and the g diaper starter pack was basically free. I figured we would give it a whirl and then start adding to the stash. I clearly do not have enough for twins so I'll have room to buy more down the road. I mostly want to CD because I just can't envision throwing 10,000 in a landfill the first year!
@LittleLady77 I totally get that and I really hope you like it and it works out. I got a little discouraged with it at first until I got the hang of it and now it's really no extra work since I'm so used to it. If you ever need any help when the time comes I'll be more than happy to help you as much as I can from here

I am freaking in love with CDing, all it took to get DH on board was the cost of sposies and a 10$ workshop! I cannot get over how freaking cute these things are. So anyway I have a question for CDing moms. Our plan so far is to use prefolds at home during the day, fitted at night, and when baby is old enough for daycare using all in ones or pocket. The latter is because we are trying to convince the daycare to use our CDs rather than have us buy sposies.
Anyway did anyone use prefolds at night? We are trying to avoid any leakage as well as the messing around with a squirming baby/snappies at 3am with the fitted, but if I do not have to get fitted I won't. Eta I couldn't not buy these, too freaking cute!

@Serenla I actually have no experience with prefolds and fitteds so I wouldn't be a good person to come to but I could refer you to youtube I do believe there are a few around here that have used them though.
I'm more of a pocket lover and I've used hybrids like G diapers in the past.
