Seeking midwife/doula/birthing center recs in Pasadena area

It seems like there is a lack of natural birthing resources in the Pasadena area. Does anyone have personal recommendations? TTC and thinking I would prefer a midwife, doula and/or birthing center over the OBGYN/hospital route...

My husband and I are in Alhambra and are planning a homebirth (first child, due end of April). We met with three different midwives (two of which where at birth centers). We decided on Sue Wolcott and are very happy with our choice so far (https://homebirthwaterbirth.com/page2.html).

Thanks, Hartz! I'll check out her site. I was thinking a birth center would be ideal, but there isn't one close to me that I know of (I'm in Altadena). Looks like Whittier is the closest. Which ones did you check out?

Thanks for the resource! I wonder if she/they assist with hospital births, homebirths or both. Don't see that on the site. I'd really like to go to a birthing center but haven't found one near me.

We are in Altadena too! I am delivering at Huntington, but looking into BEST Doulas because my OB recommended them.

How funny!!! I may PM you if that's okay - I am not thrilled with by OBGYN, she doesn't seem open to natural birth options. I think I might like to deliver at Huntington with a doctor that is open to me having a doula by my side.

We went to the one in Whittier and also met with a midwife who was in the process of opening a birth center in Silverlake (gracefullbirthing.com). I don't know whether it has actually opened yet, but it was in the works.

Thanks, Hartz! The site indicates they will open in Nov 2013! Sounds like it will be great. Maybe I can be one of their first customers ;P

My friend just had a successful home water birth in downtown LA with a doula AND a midwife, I believe. I can get info if u'd like!

A new birth center in South Pasadena has opened. It's called the Del Mar Birth Center. They have several excellent CNM's and they have birth tubs for water birth too. www.delmarbirthcenter.com
