This scares me into not opening that link...
There aren't any graphic images - it just spells out what your body's dealing with and how long each thing takes to go back to normal. I just don't want to think too hard about the recovery part yet...

Recovery scares me more than labor/delivery! Especially after reading this. I had knee surgery which included a 3-month initial recovery, with 6 months before I was up to 90%. (Still not 100% even after a year!) I'm terrified of going through that again, but with my abdomen/back/girly bits!
It's all worth it though, right? At least this time I'll have a snugly baby to show for it.
I just keep telling myself that billions of women have done this before, and most of them have chosen to do it a second (or third +) time!
Thanks for the link! Even if I'm scared, it's good to know what is normal!
Don't be afraid of recovery ladies. Think the scariest part is the bleeding and going to the bathroom. Personally, I was too focused on DS to notice much else.
I truly think the last month of pregnancy is worse than recovery. Recovery you are always moving towards feeling better so mentally that is nice. Just listen to your body!
Thanks for sharing. I was so naive about recovery last time because there is generally little education about it. You hear about L&D nonstop, but nothing about afterwards. In a lot of the NB stories I read women were talking about getting up and walking around soon after labor and being able to shower right away. Not in my case. I passed out a couple hours after delivery when I first tried to go to the bathroom and was lightheaded for a day. I didn't shower until the following day because I wasn't up for it. I was shocked I could hardly scoot around on my bed because of my aching vag.
On the plus side I had an adorable baby to distract me from the discomfort and within 9 hours after birth I lost 22 (!) lbs. How's that for exciting?
By far having your LO is the most exciting and best part of giving birth and PP, but the instant weight loss isn't bad either!
Honestly, I had a ton of pain after my CS and was given x-rays to check if the doctor had broken my ribs during the delivery, but the thing that I'm dreading the most is getting an IV. To me having an IV put in was by far the worst part.
Recovery is not fun but not so bad since you are home with your LO. I had a c/s and the worst part was if I went to long without a pain pill for the first few days, and trying to lift my legs into bed. I never realized that you have to use your lower abdomanal muscles so much just to get your legs up on the bed...

Sadly, this did not happen to me and I actually think it is mean to make the pp mom step on the scale before she is discharged. Due to being on an IV for so long, I actually left at the same weight despite having an 8 pound baby. It did not make me happy.
I had a pretty easy recovery, I just took it easy. The first month is kind of a blur, but it wasn't too bad.
