Babies: 6 - 9 Months

BLW mamas

Question for those doing BLW...

How often do you offer solids to your LO, and how old are they?

DD is just over 7 months, we started BLW a week-ish after she turned 6 months.  So far she only eats solids at dinner, and occasionally breakfast (on the weekends sometimes).  Just curious where other babies are at...

  • My little one just turned 8 months. I give her solids 2-3 times a day in between her regular feedings. I mainly give her breakfast and dinner. Sometimes after lunch she'll eat a snack.

  • We only do dinner on weekdays and probably 2 meals on weekends.  I'm just not confident that DS is that good at it so he doesn't do it with our nanny at this time. When he gets a little better, he will move to to 2 or 3 meals a day.  Just remember that food before 1 is just for fun so don't feel a ton of pressure!

    We were 2 under 2, now 3 under 3!

  • I forgot to add we started with oatmeal at 4.5 months old. Then at 6 months she started eating what we eat.

I do keep this in mind, and really just needed some reassurance that other babies are only eating 1-2 times a day too - I know most that do purees offer solids a lot more so it always makes me wonder.  But I'm always reminding myself that she doesn't NEED 3 meals a day right now.

I totally agree with you though, DD is still very much just learning and am not quite ready for the sitter (my mom) to be feeding her - especially since every time she's around and DD is eating she freaks out at every little gag, and thinks every bite she takes is too big.  She obviously needs to get more used to BLW before she feeds her a meal every day. :)

  • I am SAHM and I usually do 1 -2 solids a day.  I feed till she isn't interested anymore.  If we are busy or running around all day I skip them.  She doesn't seem to mind either way.

  • Our LO is 7.5 months and we started BLW at 6.5 months. DH works afternoons so we all eat breakfast together everyday. I usually sit with her for dinner too, but it doesn't happen everyday. We try for 2-3 times a day, but we don't stress over it!

  • We started at about 6 months (so 5 weeks ago or so) and she mostly just eats dinner with us. Occasionally she will have a Baby Mum Mum or some banana while dad is eating breakfast or if we are out to eat for lunch or breakfast she would eat as then as well.

She nurses A LOT so even though she is doing great with solids I'm not anxious to add more meals--yup, I'm being sorta lazy!  We'll probably add lunch around 8-9 months or so?

  • My little one is 7months1week.  She is quite good at BLW (newest favorite is corn on the cob).

We do supper...some days she'll have something at lunch with me.  She has never done breakfast aside from an occasional weekend when we are out for brunch.

There are days we are out and about and she doesn't have any solids.  She doesn't seem to care.  So, on average once a day but can range from 0-2x a day.

DD eats when I eat unless she is asleep or if DH has her out on a walk. She likes to practice while watching me and as usual she is the most interested in whatever it is that I do so that's why we do it that way. I give her whatever is safe and easy! I would let her eat less often if it was easier.

ETA: DD is just over 7 months and she has only been eating for about 3 weeks.

  • I started when dd was just over 7 months old. She eats one meal a day probably 6 days a week. Like a couple of others have said when she doesn't eat she doesn't miss it. Sometimes she will get a strip of toast or a handful of Cheeros.
