Bathing

I just removed the insert from our whale tub, babies will be 7 months tomorrow. When did you start bathing them together or did you? Did you use bath seats or just a small amount of water in the regular tub? They both love the bath and have been looking forward to the double bath time:)

Re: Bathing

  • We bathed ours together once they were able to sit up on their own. We used the bath seats that suction to the tub until they were really stable. Then we would put them in there together with a small amount of water and let them go to town. They loved it and would just play like crazy.

  • It took us a while. I tried the bath seats at probably around 7 months and didn't like them very much (hard to clean the babies, they didn't stay suctioned to the floor etc). Honestly, I used the baby tub and did individual baths until about a year. It was too daunting and overwhelming to me to do it any other way. Now we all love it. I don't think I would have been comfortable doing it before 11 months or so...Double bath time is super fun though!

  • We also started bathing together once they were good at sitting up on their own.  My husband and I usually do bath time together though so that makes it much easier.  But if I bath them solo I just put less water in and I have diapers at the ready so I can dry them and put a diaper on right in the bathroom.  They absolutely love bath time and playing together in the tub, so much so that as soon as they hear the water turn on both of them make a beeline for the bathroom.

  • We used a laundry basket when we first started bathing them together in the big tub.  This way they had something to lean against and the holes in the side only allowed about 2 inches of water, plus it contained all the toys.  We did that for about a month until they learned how to pull up on the basket.  I don't like bathing them alone but I do it if I have to, DH is much better at bathing them alone then I am.

  • Like JodiAriel we used a laundry basket(s). Once they started tipping the basket(s) we put them just into the tub and we got a bathmat. I have bathed them alone once and it went ok till they decided they were done and both wanted out at the same time. I didn't like it and don't choose to do it alone unless I have to.
