Exhausted all the time! 23-24 weeks pregnant

Is anyone else feeling extremely exhausted the past couple of weeks if you are close to 23 or 24 weeks preggers??  I haven't been sleeping very well at night and it's been even hard to get to bed at a decent time as I just don't feel tired.  But during the day right after lunch and even in the mornings all I want to do is sleep and just not take a quick nap but sleep for an hour or more.  I wasn't sure if this was normal or not because I thought that you started to get back energy once you hit the 2nd Trimester and the first couple of months were great but now that I'm in week 24 I'm just so exhausted!!

  • Honey, I've been exhausted since I was six weeks in.

You're almost in third tri. Unfortunately it gets more exhausting from here. ;)

  • At this point I believe it was a huge lie when people said that you feel more energy during your second tri

  • I did get some energy back in the second trimester, and I'm experiencing very few symptoms other than back pain! I guess it's different for everyone.

  • I barely get any sleep. I toss and turn , not to mention going to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Lately I've been so tired. I asked my doctor how Come and his response was " of course you are, your pregnant and almost 35 years old!" Thanks Doc
  • You're pregnant. Sometimes it sucks, but you get a super cool baby out of it!

  • Here here! I try to sneak in naps durning the day! That's a joke :) DH does his best trying to let me but yes it's an accomplishment for me to actually get dressed for the day, and throw a lil eye liner on... Once I'm on the couch I swear dd says ok time to poop! Lol
  • I'm in the same boat. Baby is pressing more into my lungs and making me more tired. I'm not sleeping well either. I think I'm going to pick up some unisom this weekend.

  • Stupid question: is unisom just an OTC sleep aid that's safe to take during pregnancy or is it a prescription thing?

It's OTC. You have to get the kind with doxylamine succinate as the active ingredient (it's safe for pregnancy).

  • Yup mines coming back like a freight train. It makes me a little sad, I felt semi-human again. But hey, I have an excuse for naps, so I'm not complaining.

  • I definitely have days where i'm feeling very worn down and queasy, often for no apparent reason. It seems it usually lasts a few days before i'm feeling pretty back to normal. This has been happening throughout the second trimester.

I do not have GD but I feel very tired after eating, as in I need a nap. I kind of laugh at myself.... Like I need a nap from shoveling food into my mouth... Such hard work!

  • My exhaustion never went away.  I can sleep 9 or 10 hours and then take a nap in the afternoon.  I find snacks with sugar AND protein (like peanut butter or yogurt) help me maintain energy.

  • @hashtagrainbow, I tried it for the my whole first trimester, (it was supposed to help me poop and sleep). It made me super groggy in the morning and seemed to take forever to start working. I would take mine around 7:30 and still wouldn't feel tired by 9:30. But that's just me.
  • I have been very tired few the past few weeks. I try to take small naps during the day or relaxing in the bed with a BIG pillow behind me.

Oh sweet slumber, I shall meet thee again! Thank you for the info!
Benedryl knocks my ass out if you wanna try that first :)
