Pain in breast

I've noticed a kind of tugging/pulling sensation in one boob while she's nursing. I figured its part of the let down, or something.. But then yesterday I started having pain in that side when I push on one spot.. I don't think it's a blocked duct because there's no lump and she's effectively emptying everything, and I even pumped to make sure. But it's just a little uncomfortable and sensitive to the touch. Has anyone else had anything similar?

Re: Pain in breast

  • Yes. I used hot compresses and massage even though it hurt. It went away in a day. Continue nursing and pumping after.

If you notice redness or have nipple pain as well it could be mastitis and you should call your doc.

  • I would massage in the shower too. It really helps any discomfort is have.

Yes. Hot hot water is even better than a hot compress (and sometimes less messy).
  • Thanks all! I did massage in the shower earlier, and it seems a little less uncomfortable. I noticed that if I push on my areola area then it hurts back in my boob where I feel the other pain, but it doesn't hurt when The baby nurses. And still no lump or bump that I can feel. Strangest thing.

  • My boobs always hurt in random places with every baby I've nursed (3). I just figure that they are going through a lot and that's why there's pain.
