Daylight savings

My dad brought this up a couple weeks ago. And I realized that DS doesn't go by clocks. He pretty consistently goes from 6p-6a most days. If he goes to bed later, it doesn't make him sleep later, and if he wakes up later it doesn't mean he'll go to bed later. And he gets mad when we miss his bedtime, even if it's only by 15min. Am I stuck with a baby going from 5p-5a after the fall back until his bedtime switches up again as he gets older?

Re: Daylight savings

  • I'm wondering about this too!  I've heard both extremes, some say Daylight Savings really messes up their kids schedule, some say it doesn't even affect them.  My DD also wakes up at just about the same time every day, regardless of when she went to bed, so I'm worried that we will now be getting a 430-530 wake time.  On the other hand, I wonder if maybe it being darker longer in the morning would help her sleep longer?  Wishful thinking??

  • I'm actually really excited for the change. This kid is already falls asleep an hour before we do and wakes up an hour early. I'm hoping we'll all get better rest once we fall back! It would be our luck that it totally screws him up though...
  • I had kind of this issue when going back to work. She went down at 9 and was up at 7. I needed her up at 6 to be ready to go on on time. 15 minutes early bed time and wakin her up 15 min early in the morning for a few days then adding another 15 and so on. It took about 2 weeks. She's like clock work now. Awake at 6 and preferres to put herself to sleep at night and hangs out chatting/singing in the morning for about 15-20 min an added bonus! .
