Shower invites are out!

So now I must ask when is the point of no return for adding or editing my registries?  My Mom urged me not to look to see what people have bought but I realized the other day after a trip to Carter's I may have registered for a few things I bought on sale.  So I went in to delete those items and found that already someone had purchased something off my registry that was already bought, which is fine I can return or exchange it later after my shower.  But what is everyone's feelings about checking or updating their registries once the invites are out?  My shower is Nov. 10th so I still have quite some time to edit in my opinion but correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Shower invites are out!

  • I stalk mine with no shame. My first shower is Nov 16 and I will probably be editing throughout. My next shower is Dec 11 so I will edit as needed between there too.

Are you only having the one shower?
One joint Mom/MIL shower and then after that my firm will be throwing me a shower.  Also I know someone has weighed in on this before but what is an acceptable # of things to register for if you're having a shower of about 50 people and then a work shower of about 15 people? I added some clothes and blankets even though I was warned not to since I felt like I didn't have a ton on my registries (2 stores).

  • I go on my registry and check it a couple times a week. I've been changing things around on it too (nothing big ... just changing quantities or adding new things). I'll keep an eye on it as well and have other things I can add in case I need to

  • The invites for my first shower are out, and my second shower invites are going out this weekend!  Very exciting :)

As far as the registry, as I did with my wedding, I will stalk it without shame!  LOL I also plan to buy things as we go still (no way I'll get everything as gifts obviously!), and will need to take them off the registry to avoid getting duplicates.

  • My shower is on the 3rd of November. My invitations were given last week.
I am having only one big shower... big!
I check my registry all the time. I see no problem about updating the lists... I have been doing it. I changed amount of items, deleted some, added some others...

  • I have one shower the 27th of this month and two in Nov. I just went through both of my registries and cut so much stuff out that I didn't feel was needed.  I cut down both of my lists to less that 50 items.....which is prob cutting it close because between all my showers we are looking at more people than items.  I stalk my registries at least once a week and I will try not to update them anymore....many of the things I took off where extra things that DH just thought were cute, I didnt understand the expense or the use of some of them so they got axed...shhhh dont tell on me...lol!  I love how some of you stated that you went back and added small low priced items if only high end ones were left on the registry...that is so smart, esp since my last one is my work shower and I know that my co-workers can not afford to spend a ton of money.

  • I check my registry shamelessly. It's nice to make sure there are several options in all the price ranges. Also, Target changes inventory a lot, and it's good to delete things that are unavailable. I think about the things that annoy me when shopping from a registry and try to minimize that for my guests.

  • For DS when I was registering I would check it all the time.  No shame in that. I also gave my mom and MIL the passwords and told them if family got something that was on my registry somewhere else and didn't want to give it to me until the shower they could go on and update/remove the like item without needing to tell me.  A lot of my family bargain shop and I was not opposed to certain items being used so I had no problem with people getting things other places to save money.

  • My shower is Nov 17 (shhh, it's a surprise & I don't know about it, lol), and I've been watching my registry since I was still updating it.  So far only 2 things have been purchased, and they're both bigger ticket items....$100 highchair and $170 glider/bouncer chair thingy.  I made sure I put lots of things under $25 that can be grouped together or purchased separately, but I know people are going to get what they want when it comes to clothes and blankets and accessory stuff because that's what they do- especially with a baby girl.  I'm hoping they at least use the registries as a guideline for what we like and our nursery theme.
