T&P for my first/fur baby...UPDATE - HE'S HOME!!

My baby boy, Turbo, has a blockage in his urinary tract. He was showing signs of kidney failure. He stayed at the vet last night on an IV and antibiotics. We should, hopefully, know more today. I know it sounds silly, but I'm such a mess knowing that he's so sick and I can't be with him. I got Turbo when I was a sophomore in college... he's been with me through everything and is such a Mama's boy!

  • Thanks for all of your love ladies! I went to visit Turbo this afternoon... he is doing SO much better. Much more alert and seems a heck of a lot more comfortable. It was a bit heartbreaking though - when they opened up his kennel to let me pet him, he practically jumped in to my arms almost as if he was saying 'please take me home mom!' They are going to keep the catheter in one more night. They are hopeful he will come home tomorrow night or Saturday morning.

Im so sorry to hear this! My kitty had a similar problem, we made some dietary changes for him and he has been doing great ever since. I am hoping your sweet furbaby has a similar, and relatively simple, outcome!
  • Poor little guy! I hope he's home with you soon!!

  • I'm glad to hear he's doing better. Only one of my kitties has ever had to spend the night at the vet. I was miserable thinking about him all by himself. I hope your guy gets to come home soon.

  • Turbo is home!!! He is sooooo much better!! He's on some antibiotics for a few days, and he'll be on prescription food from now on, but other than that he seems back to his old self

Great news! The furkids are family too and it is too quiet when they aren't around. So glad Turbo is on the mend!

I'm glad he's home!  We just went through this, I am so sorry this happened!  Our kitty was hospitalized the first time with a catheter and released after 24 hours.  Then 2 weeks later it happened again and he needed emergency surgery to save his life.  Now he is on the rx food for life and after the surgery he is much better.  I don't say this to scare you, but knowledge is power!  As silly as that sounds, keep an extra eye on him for a little bit just in case. ( I think we are in the minority)
T&P he has a healthy recovery!

ETA- I second the recommendation for Royal Canin SO, he would not touch the Hills Prescription food but he eats the SO.
