My DS is almost 8 wks and since the first night home he has been in the rock and play. We tried starting him in the crib but he is such a squirmy baby that he didn't seem to like the big open space. After about 3 wks I quit swaddling him because he always breaks out of it. So I'm trying to get him to sleep in his crib and he sure seems to hate it. Any suggestions on what to try? I'm fine with him in the rock and play hut just scared if he is somewhere without one he won't sleep unless you are holding him or in a swing. After 2 hours of falling asleep and waking back up 5 min later and screaming I gave up and put him back in the rock and play. Suggestions on getting him to like his crib??
Re: Rock and play to crib
That's all I got! GL!

He does fight the swaddle really hard, but he needs it to sleep well so I just use white noise and his mobile overhead to distract him from it. If he cries I pick him up and sway and bounce him until he settles down. I hope you are able to transition to the crib easily, good luck!
ETA: I have had success getting my kids to nap in their infant carseat if we are away from home. For DD I had to rock/swing it to get her asleep and for DS I have to bounce it up and down. For both I can usually stop once they fall asleep. Obviously you don't want him to take all naps in the carseat, but it is a good option if you are at someone's house and your child needs a familiar place to nap.
