Let me preface this by saying that I know I am probably being silly and unnecessarily stressing.
I started offering DS (8 months) a straw cup around 5 months. He didn't seem interested and would chew on the straw for the most part. Between 6-7 months I started becoming a little stressed that he wouldn't learn how to use a straw cup (I really do not want any bottles past 1 year). I made a concerted effort to use a straw to drink when I was around him. All of the sudden one day, he got it. He took a few sips here or there after a meal. I would leave his cup on the floor so he could reach it and he would crawl over, grab it, and take a few sips when he wanted... I was thrilled.
Now he has not taken a drink from it in over a week again. He will bite on the straw (he did just cut his first tooth and the one next to it appears to be on the way), but he will not drink from it. He gets plenty of formula still, so I know he's well hydrated, but I'm just worried he forgot how or is not interested. Is he too young for me to be concerned about this? Suggestions for getting him interested again? I tried offering it when he first wakes up (right before the bottle) thinking he would be thirsty then, but he will cry if I offer it then because he wants the bottle with formula instead of the cup with water (which I promptly give him).
Thoughts or suggestions are welcome!
