Night crew check in

I haven't seen one of these posts in a while and I can't be the only momma up with LO so...

I have been trying to get LO down since 9 with out much luck. She slept for maybe 45 min in her PNP but she just wants to cuddle. She sleeps great when we cosleep, normally around 4-5 hrs at a time, but I am trying to get her to sleep on her own in PNP. I just nursed her to sleep and I know when I put her back in bassinet she will wake up. She did nap in her crib a few times today, so that is progress.

Qotn: what is your biggest obstacle with LO? Any major victories? Any LOs that are just problem free?

I thought I was just extra sleepy for not recognizing you!

All I have to say is,

WHY WILL MY CHILD NOT CLOSE HER PRETTY LITTLE EYES?!?! #-o

    Eta- spelling is hard.

  • I have two challenges. 1. I think I have a very slow milk flow so it takes forever to nurse completely and sometimes very frequent because she falls asleep. She is gaining weight like a pro though. 2. Swaddle or not to swaddle. She won't go to sleep without swaddling but towards the end of her sleep she starts to fight it. Yesterday I had her in the sleep sack swaddler and she scraped up her knuckles on the Velcro. Just now she pulled the Swaddle almost over her mouth to get her hand to her mouth.
  • My babe is sucking her hands all the time now. It's not really an obstacle. I just wish she didn't do it. But they start to become aware of their hands at this age, which is so amazing to witness. So it's just par for the course.

  • LO will not sleep tonight. I got 2 hours out of her. I am so tired and just want her to go to bed!
  • Second pair of pjs for the night. Grr. I hate a leaky diaper.
My challenge with LO is that he's fussier than my first. Still getting used to the crying for no reason.

  • And we are up again. Going to try to put her down with her hands out of sleep sack when she is done eating. Hopefully she doesn't scratch up her poor face. I have a feeling she is only going to give me 1.5 hour stretches tonight.
  • We just had the longest stretch of sleep to date - 4.5 hours! Little guy has never slept more than 3.5. Not sure if this is due to the cold he's getting over or what, but I'm hoping it continues!

Up for first MOTN feeding. Curious to see how the rest of the night is going to look. Feedings all night long ever 2-2.5 hours are def the biggest challenge for me right now as a new parent. I really miss sleep!
  • She slept!! ::cue angels singing:: After last night, I was really worried about tonight. Not for her because she had great naps, but for me. I was starting to get a sleep deprived migraine. Dh took her for the hour before he had to leave for work so I could get a power nap in just in case. Longest power nap ever! She woke up about 5 hours after she was put down! Maybe last night was just a fluke.

  • Biggest challenge is sleeping somewhere semi-flat - bassinet and crib.

  • Up got MOTN feeding. DH giving bottle. I'm pumping. Will be up again I an hour to take mom to airport. Fuck. Our biggest challenges this week have been day time naps. I think she's becoming more aware of the world around her and can't get enough.

  • I forgot QOTN: I think the biggest obstacle I've had is getting out of the house by myself. I'm scared that LO will get fussy and I'll be unable to calm her down. I still have issues getting a good nursing position at home, not to mention out in public without a pillow.

Usually DS is good with a quick chang, nurse, and back to sleep. Tonight? Spit up all down my back, big poop in a fresh diaper, and then totally wired despite paci, swaddle, swing, sound machine, and dark room. We've been up over an hour now. C'mon kiddo... Edited bc spelling is hard at 5 am

  • Dudes. Seriously. He slept from 10 to 4. In his crib. I guess the schedule and feeding changes we made are working!! *gives self high five*
    Married DH <3 : 7/7/12; 3 fur babies (2 dogs and 1 cat)
DS born 9/3/13; DD born 7/22/15; LO due 5/28/18
FS (age 5) and FD (age 2) to become AS/AD very soon!

  • Somehow DD slept 8-4:30 and since I went to bed at 9 I actually got a good chunk of sleep. But I still need more sleep so hopefully she goes back down ok.

QOTN: obstacle:getting her back asleep after her MOTN FEEDINGS. Victory: making sure she is getting naps.
  • Up for his motn feeding. He started making noises over an hour ago but I waited until he got vocal to get him. Thankfully I was able to get another hour of sleep in there! I actually am getting up in 2 hours to get ready for my pp appt. I figure they'd appreciate it if I showered.

Biggest challenge lately is getting him to sleep at night. The ped recommended putting him down while still partly awake to get him used to falling asleep on his own but lately even after we do the whole routine and he's falling asleep in my arms he'll start to scream when we put him down. Last night I was able to nurse him to sleep after almost an hour of up and down for him.

  • DS slept 5 hrs last night and 6 tonight. I think that's a huge victory! I hope it's not a fluke! We've been giving him a nightly bath, bottle/nurse, then swaddle. It seems to be helping.

  • LO went from 10:30 until 4:10! That's his longest stretch ever! I'm so excited about it..
  • Tonight we had a 4 hour, then a 3 and a 2 hour stretch. LO was awake smiling and cooing all day... He will be two months on Sunday. I'm really enjoying the new changes.

My biggest challenges.... Man do I find it Beyond FRUSTRATING when LO constantly grunts and makes these "eh eh" noises while sleeping. Once he starts doing that more with a little cry mixed in, I get him up and go feed him and HE WILL NOT STAY AWAKE TO EAT! I seriously get so annoyed by it. I will try everything to get a full feeding but he just won't wake up. So then I wonder why he woke up hungry In the first place. Since he won't sleep I will try to lay him back down since he won't wake up and he instantly starts to along with thrashing around sucking on his hand. Its such a production to have to wake him up by trying to put him back in bed and then get back up to try to get him to eat again. Why can't you just EAT LO then go back to bed!? It's so simple. Guess he doesn't think so. X(

I could have written this. Mine is the same way, I wish I knew what her problem is.

  • Ugh kid. Was getting up at 6 or 7...just now decided 4 is the time to be awake.

  • 8.5 hours!!! But of course, he doesn't want to goback to sleep now. Please baby its 7am and want a couple more hours!

The challenge lately has been he will barely nap during the day. We are trying putting him in his crin for naps and letting him cry for 5 minutes if needed. So far no naps. :(

I don't think snoring has ever pissed me off more than when I sit on the edge of the bed, half asleep, feeding LO and H is just laying there snoring his head off and farting in his sleep. The whole room stinks of ass. Urgh.

I think we might be mirror doppelgängers.

I feel the same when DH shoves his head under a pillow to avoid the light I hafta turn on to feed DS. I know it can't possibly be passive-aggressive, but at 5 am it really feels that way.

I'd chuck the lamp at his head. MOTN feedings put me in a rotten mood for any "complaining" on H's behalf.
