Early Intro & Question about Endometrin & Vivelle Patches

Hi ladies! I'm new to this board - I've spent my time prior to this on the IF board. I had my 2nd beta today and it came back at 255 (1st was 109) so I am considered 4w1d pregnant! I'm so excited and feel blessed to reach this point.

I do have a question for all of you. When they left the message with my beta results today they told me to stop the Endometrin suppositories and Vivelle patches today. This seems early since I'm only 4 weeks. Did anyone else stop these so soon? Just looking for some reassurance. :) Thanks!

    Welcome and congrats! I won't stop endometrium until 9 weeks and my obgyn said it's really only crucial in the beginning and between 6-7 weeks so stopping at 4 weeks seems really early but that's just what I was told for my situation you might be different. I'm mobile and can't see your siggy, are you MFI only? I would call back and ask to speak to the RE.

    @Mwhigham22 ~ Thanks for the response back! We are MFI only (well, and I have PCOS). I did call them back after they left the message and they confirmed to stop both the Endometrin and Vivelle patches. Hmm...

    If your mostly mfi then I'm sure they know your body will produce the progesterone on its own. At least that would be my theory.

    I kept using patches and taking supps until 7 weeks. A lot of the women here kept taking them far longer than me. 4 weeks seems kind of early to me, but I'm not a doctor...maybe Mwhigham22 is on to something with the MFI theory.
    TTC since June, 2011 with anovulatory PCOS, 1 blocked tube, and mild MFI
    3rd cycles clomid + Ovidrel = BFN
    4th cycles letrozole/Ovidrel + IUI = BFN
    IVF #1 = BFP! Twins due 2/5/2014

    Hmmmm....strange, that does seem awfully early. I stopped my PIO at 7weeks and won't stop the Endometrin/Crinone (ran out of Endo. switched to Crinone)  until October 22nd which is just over 11 weeks. Maybe the reason is because its MFI only, good point. I gave up questioning things and just go with what they tell me so I'm sure its ok if they say so!!! Yay welcome!!!

    i did PIO until 8 weeks then 2 weeks of endometrin after that

    Welcome! I stopped vivelle around 8 weeks I think. Crinone I stopped at 10w, pio at 12w3d. I'm still on oral prometrium at 14w6d.

    Me:29 DH:29  TTC since 1/11 Dx: unexplained IF/early DOR/immune issues 
    Feb'12- July'12-testing(all clear minus slight arcuate ute), 3 IUI with clomid all BFN
    8/30IVF#1 Antagonist protocol- ER 9/11-8R, 7M, 5F. 
    ET 9/14 2 embies transferred. 1 10cell Grade 4, 1 8cell Grade 4. No frosties. BFN
    IVF#2 Antagonist protocol plus baby aspirin- ER 12/5-16R, 12M, 8F!
    ET 12/10 5dt! 1 fully expanded blast & 1 early blast. No frosties. BFN
    3/13 hysteroscopy & polypectomy, Consulted w Dr. Kwak-Kim.  
    DX: High NK cells, cytokines, DHEAs& PAI1;  hypothyroid, +APA, restricted bloodflow
    7/13 IVF#3 Long lupron protocol with PIO, Crinone, Prometrium, and vivelle
    (plus synthroid, metformin, baby asa, metanx, PNV, Vit E, D, calcium, fish oil, CoQ10, IVIg infusions and lovenox per Dr. Kwak-kim)
    ER 7/19 14R, 11M, 9F(4 natural fert, 5 with ICSI)
    ET 5dt 7/24 2 fully expanded blasts.  SURPRISE 3 FROSTIES!!!

    So happy to see you over here :)

    I bet @MWhigham22 is right! But maybe you could call and ask for the reasoning why from your RE, so at least you'll feel more comfortable with his decision? My RE has me on estrace (estrogen) and PIO till 11 weeks, which is probably pretty long!

    I was on PIO until 10 weeks. I wonder if it had to do with whatever IVF meds and dosage you were on?? I was on Lupron and a high dose of Follistim and was told that my body wouldn't know to produce the progesterone since it would be messed up by the meds. I don't think it would hurt to call and get their reasoning of it would make you feel more confident in stopping.

    Oh and a huge congrats!!!

    Congrats! We are MFI only. I have no known fertility problems. I had to stay on Endo and Viv.elle for 11 weeks after my FET. It's standard protocol for my clinic since they've been controlling my hormones for the transfer. Also, I think it's natural for P4 to drop and climb back up after transfer too. GL

    I'd like to add that my RI was watching my levels and weaned me based on those.  I had been warned I'd be on everything till 12-14 weeks and that we would go slowly.

    Hmm...I just got my BFP yesterday and was told to continue Vivelle and Endometrin until week 10. I would trust your doctor, but maybe ask why. I know I feel better taking the endometrin, because I feel like I'm doing something.

    Hi we are mfi only when i was preg w my twins i stopped pio after betas bc my progesterone levels were so high. I was producing my own maybe thats why.

    Thanks for the reassurance @KISSIES. I talked with my RE and here's what he said:

    "When you had your initial HCG level checked, your progesterone level was 72.  The normal progesterone level in a spontaneous conception at 4 weeks would be between 10 and 20.  The measured progesterone in the peripheral blood from vaginal progesterone would be about 5, so all the extra progesterone is coming from your ovaries and should be more than adequate until your placenta takes over progesterone production at about 8 weeks."
