WTF Wednesday

Anyone?

Re: WTF Wednesday

  • WTF BM! How do you help SS with a school project and he still gets a D? He is in 5th grade. You get a D just for turning the damn thing in. We offered to work on it with him and you made a big deal about how you know what you are doing. Well now DH is working with the teacher to let SS redo it. Guess what we will be doing this weekend? We will be making up for the crappy guidance you gave SS ...as always!

  • WTF BM,

You pulled the oldest two kids out of school all day last Tuesday and early last Friday so you could finish packing and moving???? I'm so glad it was so important for SD who just failed a few classes last six weeks to miss school to help you move less than 4 miles. And you just had to take them out of school on Friday so that when we picked them up you would be at your new house already (with Halloween decorations already up)..... Oh, and BTW BM, the new online grade system the school district has this year also CALLS us and emails us for absences without us even having to log it like the last one so we know the day it happens.....

    WTF Mint,

Why has your website and iphone app been messing up for the last day and a half. I need access to my money info at all times!

  • WTF ex husband, don't use my phone number for your payday loans, then not pay them and have people calling me, looking for you.  Yes I did offer the lady who has papers to serve you your address!

BM did this to DH and his parents.  They still have creditors calling them.  And the last time her car got repossessed, they called FIL.  She got this car two years ago--long after she left.  You have all my sorries.

They just called twice and after I talked to the lady, she was cool and understood that we didn't talk, I think especially after I offered her his address.

  • WTF SIL? You do realize that you can't put up a fake front with your FI forever. I do hope that he at least gets a glimpse of the real you before he marries you next September. The poor guy really and truly deserves so much better. Or you could change and become an awesome person, because that would make everyone's lives better. DH & I are sick and tired of your games, you playing the victim, and your nonstop gossiping. FFS, we had 4 different family members approach us during our last visit to share with us the nasty and false things you have been saying.

Also, WTF random number??  I just got a text asking if I had drugs.  Nope.  Sure don't.  I almost wanted to send something rude and/or clever back, but I just blocked them instead.

Omg that happened to me a couple years ago. Two part co workers of mine text me (no clue how they got my number) about drugs. I didn't reply and since I didn't work directly with them I just let it stew. When I got partnered with one of them I brought it up after several months and as it turns out that was not even her phone number (I had saved the texts) and she had no knowledge of it. She was furious that her name would be mentioned in something like that. It all turned out rather funny.
  • WTF basement seepage guy?! You came over the weekend and took a look at the ONE basement wall that leaks. You told us that to put drain tile around the entire basement you would charge about $8,000. Then you say that for the one wall it will be under $4,000 (first WTF - how is 1/4 of the work costing 1/2 the price?!) You said roughly the same for if you dug out the dirt outside of the wall, tuck pointed and coated the wall with rubber, and then re-filled the cement pad. I gave you the benefit of the doubt, told DH I think doing the inside drain tile for the one wall would be our best bet, and waited for an official quote. Official quote came in at $5,000. WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK?! Are you kidding me?! We can't afford that! With everything else we have to fix before putting this house on the market, doing that one wall eats up half of what we have saved for the down payment and closing on a new house. I'm trying not to freak out about this right now. But add to that the fact that I miscalculated the amount of time I'd have available for maternity leave (which makes it so that I'm able to be off for less time or eat into our home savings to make up for my lost wages) and that I incorrectly remembered how much my tax return was for last year (meaning that I incorrectly figured THIS coming tax return to put toward a house) I'm freaking the hell out right now. I'm really hoping that our ultrasound this afternoon goes well, seeing LO and hearing that he/she is healthy will at least ease my mind about that aspect of our lives.....

=)) Bahahahaha this is hilarious. And I totally agree about peanut butter....definitely more worthy of a national holiday. Yummmmm

WTF Columbus Day Of course I appreciate the explorations of Columbus and Marco Polo and Magellan and all the rest, but come on... We now know that Columbus was not even the first European to discover "the Americas" (not "America" as we know it), Scandinavian explorers were. And the Atlantic slave trade might not have existed if not for Columbus (though it has existed elsewhere since the beginning of civilization). We don't close the banks for George Washington Carver's birthday, and he invented peanut butter. I think peanut butter is a pretty significant invention that had impacted the world over. As a history major, I am loath to start with this new revisionist history.

First of all, Columbus Day as an holiday was first observed in 1907.  Granted the specific date (ie the 2nd monday in october spiel) did not happen unitl 1970, the holiday was celebrated around the Americas going back decades.  Confirmation of Leif Erickon's landing wasn't confirmed until the 1960s.

Its not like the Knights of Columbus were trying to hijack the Norwegians.

Second, Leif wasn't such a great guy either.  So whether the historical context of Columbus' purposeful voyage of exploration or Erickson's need to leave yet another settlement for some nefarious purpose or another is worse or better, is a matter of, well historical context.

Third, of course he was a sexist pig.  Unless you were queen (and even THEN it took a special queen), women were chattel.  Was it wrong in a moral sense - you betcha.  Was it wrong in a religious sense - you betcha.  But I am not going clutch my pearls because he has a holiday that isnt even a national one.

Same thing with the fact that he was racist and took slaves.  It is historical fact that he did.  He wrote about taking slaves in his diaries.  Guess what else he wrote in those diaries.  The reason why he took these slaves from that island?  Becuase he deduced that they were normally taken slaves by the neighboring Native Islanders.

I find slavery abhorant.  I do.  But I also find holding slavery against one person or race while ignoring or downplaying another race's slavery just as abhorant and pretty much racist itself.  Burkina Faso, the Sudan and many other African Countries had state sanctioned slavery into the 1960/70s.  And to hold them at a lower level of expectations means that we hold the people as a race or culture at a lower level, NO?

That does not mean that Columbus should be excused for what he did.  But if we are going to take away a holiday, that was really supposed to celebrate the spirit of adventure, then we need to look at all of the OTHER American holidays/monuments/etc.

No more Thanksgiving.  Take FDR off the dime, since he interned american citizens in concentration camps.  His cousin, Teddy?  Take him off Rushmore since he started a war in South America just to get a stupid canal.  Andrew Jackson was the first president to use WMD on its own people, but he is still represented.  Woodrow Wilson?  He re-segregated our military.  Not for nothing, but the trickle down effect of white americans fighting along side black americans could only have been a good thing....

Historical Context OR we go after everyone for every nasty thing they have done.

    And that is my WTF

  • WTF friend?! It's NOT okay to start talking to the brother of your husbands mistress?! Why are you even still married?! Don't even entertain the thought of an "open marriage"!! You're setting your daughter up for a lifetime of heartache, you know this, right?!? UGH. Just WTF?!
  • WTF Bar?  You scheduled me to close by myself last night.  As in, no one but me.  Of course I didn't get out of there at 2 a.m.  I was closing by myself.  So me, myself and I had to mop the place, scrub everything down, sanitize all the taps and beer trays, run the dishwasher repeatedly, lock up, and shut everything down by myself.  You want me out of there on time?  Let me do last call earlier than 1 a.m. or schedule me a helper to close up.

  • WTF BM.

Why call here ranting about you being in contempt of court and the court taking half of your check for SD's. why are you still talking about suing the attorney and the judge. You should have shown up for court. This has been explained to you many times. The state picked up your case because YOU were committing SSI FRAUD. The state is taking your money. Whoever you have reading and explaining your paperwork to you needs to do a better job. I am not spelling things out for you again. Why are you still calling. PLEASE STOP CALLING!

WTF SD's place of counseling, I asked over 2 months ago about supervised visitation in your office. You told me it wasn't available. Maybe you were confused about what I was asking. I just found out today from another counselor that works there the you do supervised counseling and she actually does this herself. Very Good News though!

Lol. I didn't take it as you calling me out. I hope by the time you got to the peanut butter part and about the bank delaying my first deposit because of the holiday you realized it was not supposed to be taken seriously.

I agree with all of your points if we are going to go all academic. But for humor's sake, let's honor the peanut butter. ;)
  • Wtf in laws thank you for defaulting on a $10,000 bill and naming your kid a JUNIOR so that we get to get the calls and harassment. Fortunately we called them immediately to give them your current information
