Thanks to all who posted such supportive messages to me about my PPD. I am feeling much better.
Zoloft has helped. BFF came up from Florida this week and she has been an angel. She is helping with Delilah and it's just lovely to have her here. I also have seen a great therapist who is so incredible insightful. And I foiund a great nanny who is spending some time here so I can get a break.
I think my body was so pumped full of hormones for so long, it doesn't know what a "normal" level is! PPD snuck up on me. I never anticipated to have my sweet baby girl that I dreamed of and get depressed. My feelings of wanting to run away totally freaked me out.
The therapist has been comforting. She made sense out of my feelings. And it helps to have a mental health professional tell me that I am not crazy, I am not losing my mind, and that this is an illness I contracted. She asked me if I would feel guilty if I got an infection, or a cold. Or course not! And to try and see this the same way. The guilt has really been tough.
DH has been wonderful. He's relieved that I am getting better. I haven't been crying all day, and I am eating. Food still doesn't have much appeal for me, but I am eating. When my love of food returns, I'll know how far I have come.
My mind was in a very dark place when I posted previously. Very dark. It feels good to know I am better now. Not completely over this, and I will likely be on medication for a while, but I can now see the light again and know this is just temporary.
