Methotrexate shot tomorrow!

Ugh so nervous. I have to get the shot tomorrow to take care of this etopic pregnancy and I hear that it can have some yucky side effects. Anyone here give me any advice? I know I can't eat things with folic acid and no pain relievers. So side effects???

I got a methotrexate shot 10/8/13. I have been bleeding heavy ever since. I also had excruciating pain on day 5 and was taken to the ER. Thankfully, everything was ok and they were able to give me painkillers to dull the pain. My betas have gone from 1159 (day of shot) up to 1959 (day 4 post-shot) and down to 237 (day 7 post-shot). I am still bleeding with clots, my back and pelvis are achy, and I'm exhausted. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. It's hard to find someone who can relate to the shot and its side effects so let me know if you need to talk.

Thanks. I have low betas but they seem to be doing a yo yo. So I need to get this shot to just clear everything out. My betas won't go lower that 135 and keep shooting up then dropping. So annoying. I need to get this shot done so I can continue with IVF again I jan. and since you need a three month break looks like feb not e like that I can continue!

Oh man so sorry that sounds horrible! I have been having back aches already and really hope that the side effects are getting better for you. I am going to try to keep working but I will have sun and mon off so hopefully that will help!

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had MTX with my first loss (not ectopic though) in 2012. I didn't have any side effects at all, other than some soreness in my butt where they had injected it. Be prepared for all types of bleeding, though (heavy, light, clots/tissue, randomly stopping and starting, etc) A few days after the shot, I bled heavily and then passed the sac. After that I bled on and off for weeks. It also took several months for my hCG to go down to 0. I hope that's not the case for you, but I wanted to let you know so you can be prepared.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had three methotrexate injections this summer for my ectopic and the side effects were pretty bad for me. I had dizziness, nausea, a lot of blood loss and terrible pain. Each time the dizziness and nausea lasted for about a day following the injections, but the sharp shooting pain in my stomach lasted about 4 days. My advice to you is to take whatever pain relievers your doctor says are ok (I think I took advil). I wasn't sure for the first two days what would be okay to take so I just suffered through it. The advil helped a lot to cope with the pain.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and I hope that the side effects are mild for you!

Thanks for all the advice. I had te shot this morning and where the injection site is on both cheeks stings and comes an goes. I kinda had a tummy ache but it passed. Working is helping me stay busy so hopefully tonight it won't get bad. Going to try and have lsomething very light for dinner and relax. Dr prescribed me Xanax and i think I really need it to get through this. I have been so on edge and anxious for weeks now and just want to crawl outta my skin!
