Rode the electric cart at the grocery store.

I'm on MBR and DH has to work late tonight. I needed a few things from the grocery store so when I got there I rode the electric cart. As embarrasing as it was I got everything I needed plus some more.

Anyone else ride the electric cart?

  • Yes! DH made me once I was put on modified bed rest at 23 weeks. I was embarrassed so I didn't do shopping until 36 weeks (2 days before I delivered) and I walked. At that point I should have taken the cart lol. It is there for a reason :-)

Haha yup! Also I might add, in that cart was those pads in case you sneeze and pee yourself, heartburn medication, and tucks pads, and everything I was craving. No shame here!! STM and pushing the first out didn't exactly leave things in perfect order :) DH was with me I told him I would run him over if he laughed.

  • Constantly!  Once my sciatic got pressured, I couldn't walk without my leg going numb after a couple hundred feet.  It made getting through stores like Target and the grocery store impossible without it.  No shame in using the cart!  That's what it's for!  I also used it after I broke my ankle.  Crutching long distances sucks!

TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!

  • I am so glad you posted this - my Mom just brought this up to me the other day.   I don't need it yet at all - but she was saying I should use the cart when I get further along.  Now maybe I will!

  • I did when I was on modified bed rest. I didn't care how I looked because it got me out of the house.

Yes, once when we went to Ikea. My helpful husband took a video of me trying to turn a tight corner, laughing at me. Who does that to a pregnant woman? He obviously had a death wish.
HAHAHA! I had to use one while very pregnant with my son. I ran into an end cap at Walmart and knocked it over. DH grabbed DD and ran!!! and then the stupid battery died and I just ended up leaving the whole shebang and hobbled away. I did tell someone there was a mess down the isle and that I was sorry. But damn I wanted to kill my husband when I found him!!
  • Not yet, but I think I might before this pregnancy is over! Only problem is I have my 1.5 year old with me and I can't see him sitting happily on my lap while shopping (or see myself steering very well with him on my lap). Hehe!

  • I never had the nerve, now I wish I would have! I distinctly remember one trip to Target in so much pain and at the back of the store that I almost just sat down on the floor and started crying at the thought of walking all the way out.

I had to do this once, at Sam's Club, at 35 weeks pregnant, so I could order the cake for DS's birthday.  Pic attached of that craziness, lol.  I shopped a few more times in the couple weeks following and always used the cart.  Wish I'd started earlier!

  • I have not  used the cart (yet) but I did start ordering my groceries for delivery!! Best idea ever. I used to do this all the time in Boston when I didn't have a car, so why not here in Los Angeles when I shouldn't be walking/carrying groceries?!

  • I did a few times at target towards the end go my pregnancy because I could hardly walk! It was awesome. ;)
  • I rode one at an amusement park when I was 20 something weeks and again three days before I delivered so I could take DD school shopping at target. It was weird.

  • This thread is awesome. I haven't ridden it yet but have been tempted. :)
  • I used one in Target a few days post c/s when my legs were so swollen/huge I could barely slip on my DH's tennis shoes. I still had quite a belly, but it was so worth it to finally get out of the hospital (LO's were still in the NICU and DH said I needed a little retail therapy from all of that, lol)
