Did you take a Multiples Class before birth?

Just curious if anyone took a multiples class before they gave birth? I noticed there are tons of classes; a birthing class, breastfeeding class, or raising multiples class..

If you took one or some, did you find it helpful? Some cost money, so I was just curious if it would be worth it or not.

I am signed up for one this weekend - it is a twin specific class at my hospital! And I am also planning on taking the general childbirth class and a twin breastfeeding class. I figure it can't hurt to have a much information as possible.

We took a twin class. It was taught by an OB nurse who had twins. I thought it was helpful. We also did the regular childbirth classes offered at the hospital, a breast feeding class (not twin specific) and I took an infant CPR class.

We took a multiples class offered through our hospital. We had taken a birthing class with DD #1, but it was nice bc this class was multiples specific.

I didn't see anything multiples-specific offered at our hospitals. Interesting ... I will have to check around.

We took a labor/delivery class for multiples. The best part about it was that it included a tour of the NICU. If you don't take a class, I would highly recommend at least a tour of the L&D unit. I was much more comfortable when I got there since I knew where to go and had already seen the Triage area, L&D rooms, etc.

We took a breastfeeding for multiples class, are currently in a general childbirth class series and will be taking a multiples preparation class at the end of the month. So far all the classes have been helpful and just knowing that I will be as prepared as possible has eased some anxiety.

We didn't take any classes with our singleton or these two little guys. So not a whole lot of help here however L&D tour is always nice especially if it is your first as well as a breast feeding class. Nursing is hard work now nursing two that's going to be even more challenging and it's nice to know what to expect. If it wasn't for nursing my singleton until he was almost out of diapers I would be taking that one for sure. That's the one area I highly recommend being prepared in best you can if you plan on doing so. Bring DH too if it wasn't for his support I would have failed and thrown in the towel long before he weened himself.

We took a multiples class that really just turned out to be a "newborn care" class. (Here's how you swaddle. OK now do it again because you have twins!" etc.) I did not find it useful at all, but this was not my first baby. The thing that was useful was hiring a postpartum doula who specialized in multiples (expensive but my friends pitched in for a gift certificate) - it was so helpful to have someone come over and show me some tricks once they were born.

I went to a class called "preparing for multiples". It was a huge waste of time for me. They mostly talked about the birth process which is not a whole lot different than having a singleton which I already have. I had just been in on bed rest so all the NICU information we already had too. The only part I found useful was they had a mom of twins come in to talk. Only problem with that is she only had twins, and no singletons, so she could only answer some of my questions. I found our class disappointing but I think it's still worth it to take one, especially if this is your first labor and delivery experience!!

I found that the multiples tour of the hospital was most helpful -- they tend to talk through more multiples-specific things. So, for instance, our hospital required Baby #2 be delivered in the OR, so they showed us where they would wheel us post delivery of Baby #1.

They also devoted a LOT of time to their Special Care Nursery, since the odds are much greater that it'll be needed for those of us with multiples. I think most tours brush over that since it's "scary." In the end, I ended up delivering too early to even be at that hospital, but I think it would have still been useful to know.

I took a BFing class (not multiples related), but honestly think had I actually BFed (versus EP), I would have benefitted the most from either a post-delivery doula/LC. All of the info I got during the BFing class I pretty much already knew from either the BFing boards or Kelly Mom.
