Multiples

New here!

I've come over to check out this board once or twice since my BFP in April. Expecting di/di twins (team green) due in January 2014. Been exclusively on the birth month board, but thought I'd check this place out since it feels like it's crunch time and I still have no idea what I'm getting myself into!

Little background on myself and my LO's:

I am a fraternal twin (twin sister), and my husband is a fraternal twin with a twin sister as well. My babies are di/di and growing as they should - doctor's are quite happy with how my pregnancy is going. I finished work in a daycare just before 26 weeks as the physicality of the job was becoming too much for this old girl to handle! Now I stay at home and am slowly preparing for life with twins. DH's cousin's wife just gave birth to id twin boys in August and we've seen them a little bit. They seem very overwhelmed with the day to day with newborn twins, and I just pray that my husband and I can cope with this huge responsibilty. I know everybody gets through it.. it just looks very scary ;)

Did I mention we have no family in town to help when LO's arrive? Closest family lives an hour and a half away.

Anywho, looking forward to getting to know everybody on this board! :)

Re: New here!

  • Welcome! our closest family is 14 hours away so come December we too will have our hands full! I'm hoping they are as calm as our first was. As the big day approches I am getting so nervous but I know it will all be ok:) I have never been around twins under the age of 14 before so I really don't know what to expect! You will do just fine!! Again welcome to the board!

OMG, triplets! I just watched your videos and cried my eyes out with the first one!! I can see in your siggy you have 2 in one sac... and one in their own. Are you expecting identical + 1 fraternal?? That is amazing!!

  • Yay you are here!! I always check in with your posts on our month board! :)

I had no idea your husband was also a twin as well as you and your sister - we will be picking your brain for all of the advice on how to raise well adjusted twins! ;)  Did you and your husband bond over being twins?

Go team green!! At every appointment I just hope we make it through without finding out! Welcome, this board is great :)

  • On our first date (we were set up by friends) we found out we were both twins and yep, we definitely bonded over that! He definitely has had a more solid relationship with his sister than I've had with mine - they are best friends, and my sister and I have often been at odds! We've always been there for eachother when we needed eachother the most - like when my sister gave birth to my niece almost 9 years ago (when we were 18), I was in the delivery room and cut the cord and lived with her (stereotypical young/teen mom) for 2 years. Now that I'm pregnant she has really come around and been a real sister/friend!

My husband mentioned to me about a month ago and it blew my mind - Everybody in our house is a twin. haha

Hah!! That is a good point! I am glad your sister relationship is getting better. I think sisters are generally hard. I have two sisters and a brother and we are really nauseatingly close, but even then we have our issues. My sister is in a long term relationship with a guy she wants to make the next move and he just isn't - so I think my being married AND now pregnant is taking its toll on her, and she will say "I don't care to hear about your cervix anymore" and it bums me out lol.

  • @calicarly77 - I really thought my sister would be that way, but she is ecstatic. She has driven from out of town to attend more than one ultrasound appointment, she came for our 3D appointment, and is out of her mind excited to host my baby shower this weekend! It's also nice to see her post on facebook things like "I cannot WAIT for "my" babies to be here!"

It's amazing what a couple little blobs of children can do for a family. haha
