Scented Pads & Tampons

So I needed pads, and I had a coupon to try these Always Radiant

Seriously, two bucks off, and I only have to buy one box, not thirty, to get the deal? I am sold.

So I am walking around this morning and

What on earth is that smell?

I feel like I am being followed by a pack of Trident Layers

(but seriously, have you tried this gum? pretty good.)

When I go to use the ladies room, I realize it is me. Well, not me, it is this "radiant" pad.

Scented? I bought scented? I was so happy to have a coupon, that I mistakenly bought fruit scented pads? I had to check the package.

Can you read that? "LIGHT CLEAN SCENT"

Light and clean? Who defines strawberry-citrus smelling lady bits as "light and clean"? Well, I suppose there are worse things to smell like...

But why are pads, and especially tampons, scented? And why are they scented like this?

Look, they come in multiple forms, so you can "mix & match" (as suggested by their ad campaign) all the fruity goodness

and they even provide a wristlet to carry them around in!

Why???

Wow. I have no idea! I was always told to not buy the scented stuff because it can interfer with your lady bits. Whatever they use to scent it that is.

You are hilarious! I will never understand scented feminine hygiene products. It is so completely unnecessary and not only that but those products are laden with chemical fragrance (fragrance generally being a fairly toxic chemical). Why exactly would you want to shove that inside you? And what is the intended response? Gee, your vagina smells terrific? WTF?

ETA: I keep seeing commercials for the tampons that have a "resealable" wrapper. Why would you want to re-seal a tampon? Aren't they generally a one use kind of deal?

Scented pads and tampons piss me off. It's not that I am opposed to a light fresh scent. To the contrary, I'm pro-fresh scent. I am, however, opposed to scents that are stronger than my most pungent perfume emanating from my vag. It's just crazy.

Oh yea. I ended up with the resealable tampon wrappers too.
I am thinking it is so they are sealed closed in case you are not able to throw out the applicator right then? I've ended up in that situation before, but not be often enough for me to think "gee, if only I could repackage this!"

Scented vag plugs and pads make me want to hurl. They turn my stomach like none other. How did you not smell that in the store, in the car, putting it in the cupboard, and when you opened the package? So stinky! It's like someone febreezed your panties. I don't like it one bit.

You guys are too funny. Thanks for making me laugh this morning!! I always wondered about these scented tampons and pads...someone must be buying them since they sell so many of them. The smell reminds me of bad walgreens perfume I used to buy my mom for mother's day when I was little.

Yeah everything I've read says to avoid scented products down there like the plague. The "resealable" wrappers are supposedly to throw the old tampon away in. Tampons clog toilets and are a plumber's nightmare.

My parents had to spend $100 for a plumber to come out & snake out a huge wad of tampons from the plumbing when I was a teenager. Sorry Mom & Dad!

I forgot to add, where were these for me last month!! I calculated from cd1 last cycle (septum surgery cycle) through AF this cycle, it equalled a total of 46 days.

I had to wear a pad for 32 out of 46 days. That's just ridiculous!!!

This whole thread is hilarious. I have never understood scented pads and tampons. If your vag smells so bad that you need air-freshener strength fruit or flower scents to cover it up, you need to see a doctor! And if it doesn't smell, leave it alone and don't try to scent it!!!
