I'm soooo tired. I have not slept well the past couple nights. Seriously thinking about not going into the office this morning. I hope this gets better. Feeling very jealous of HBM who gets to stop working in November! I'm planning to work up until my due date.
Had our last shower yesterday. Was lots of fun, but I was really tired during throughout. My mom and sister were able to come, which was great. They actually came down on Saturday night and had quality time rubbing my belly and talking to our boy. Check out these cake pops our very talented friend made!
We met with our doula last Wednesday. I am so, so happy we found her. She's wonderful and I feel so good knowing that she will be there to help me and Z during labor. She asked us if we would be okay if an apprentice was present - partly because she may have to step away to nurse her daughter. We picked someone out just based on the bios on her website, and she also came to the house last week. I was a bit taken aback because she is a CHILD! Okay, she is college-aged, but she looked and sounded so young. I realize she is learning and I'm okay with that - I just hope our doula doesn't have to be away for too long!
Last night I mentioned to Z that our baby would be here soon and there were still things we needed to do. She was like, "yeah, I want to go dancing before he comes." Sigh. I was talking about cleaning the cars, installing car seats, finishing room. She's so goofy, and I love her for it.
OB/midwife appointment tomorrow.
I think that's it for me this week. Happy Monday to all. Hopefully you have Columbus day off. It's the one holiday in Texas for state employees that we don't get off!
ETA: I forgot to answer my QOTD - First, we always ate dinner together as a family. A lot of times, Z and I don't eat at our table, but I definitely want to make sure we have family time at the table with no distractions (or as few distractions as possible). Also, I loved the way my family celebrated Christmas. Santa Claus always left unwrapped presents for us and family presents were wrapped and under the tree. Big meal with the family. Just simple things.
I am 6w6d today. Feeling sick more often than not these days. Yesterday was a rough day - I spent most of the afternoon on the couch. I made spaghetti for dinner last night, as I was obsessed with the thought of spaghetti for several days, and then when I made it I felt sick after just a few bites. I was so sad. I ended up eating it, but it took me about an hour and a half and several stints lying on the couch in between.
So my EDD, according to my own calculation, is 6/3/2014. My RE hasn't talked about EDD to me at all. My next appointment is Wednesday the 23rd to hear the heartbeat (we saw the heartbeat last week, but haven't heard it yet), and then I will graduate from my RE's office.
We have to pick an OB. I have a list of 3 that we have narrowed it down to, based on the hospital where I want to deliver and recommendations from friends... but I can't quite pull the trigger on any of them. I need to decide before my last RE appointment next Wednesday, I guess...
We are planning to go to Boston this coming weekend, and we will tell my sisters while we are there. I am still nervous about it... it seems still so early... but I want to tell them in person and I don't know that I will be back up there again before Christmas, so.....
QOTD: I am big on family traditions, but I also hope to create a lot of new traditions for our new little family. There aren't a lot of specific things that I can think of that I want to re-create from my own childhood. I do love Christmas, and I want to always bake cookies with our kiddos, listen to holiday music, watch my favorite Christmas movie (White Christmas), etc. I also would like to keep up the tradition of opening one gift on Christmas Eve, and then the rest on Christmas day. That is something we did in my family.

31w today with twins. EID (induction date) is December 2 if not here by then! They are both growing above average and in the 62nd and 73rd percentile for weight right now, which makes for a big mama. Happy to do it if it means big healthy babies!!
Both our families are big on traditions and plan on doing these with our kids. Birthdays are a big deal. Our annual turkey fry the night before Thanksgiving is another. Christmas also. Lots of love to go around!
I am also 34 going on 35 weeks this week. I officially think I waddle at this point. I continue to have contractions on and off... they always stop and haven't progressed to super painful yet, just uncomfortable but able to breathe through them. We have most everything ready just in case he decides to come early. Car seat is installed, nursery done, hospital bags are mostly packed. Unfortunately with my work schedule we weren't able to take a weekly birthing class so the one day, all day class that we could fit in is not till Nov 2nd. I just hope I don't go into true active labor prior to our class. Not much else new here. Next appointment is coming up next week. I know it doesn't really mean anything but I will be curious to know if I am dilating with all this contracting or not.
QOTD: I am most looking forward to holiday traditions with our little one. We also did family dinner at the table every night. When we got a bit older on Fridays we watched a movie and ate dinner in the family room. I always enjoyed it and may do something similar with Oliver down the road.

@ATXMommas I love those cake pops they're super cute :-) @KH826 - Ugh I'm sorry you are feeling this way, it does get better as @herbabymama said. I ate lots of bland food, toast, butter, cheese, ice cream (basically all white and yellow foods for weeks when pregnant with Kaden). I've lucked out a little this time. The Seaband acupressure band really helped me. @txdz14 congrats on your big babies. FX you make it to EID - but I know they'll come when ready :-) @mwagner25 hoping your contractions ease up. Curious too to see if they're progressing you in labor?? @herbabymamaI love the idea of a baby animal nursery :-) Our nursery is also a mix of furniture items we had, bought off craigslist or had donated but we love it. It's cute, cozy and perfect. Kaden had an owl theme :-)
I am so excited for the next few months and all of these babies!!! It seems like everyone (except KH826 and I) is 30+ weeks which is super exciting.
I'm doing well except for being exhausted and some mild m/s lingering on. Tomorrow I will be 12 weeks, EDD 4/29/13. I STILL haven't been to the OB. My appointment last week was postponed because our new insurance via EVs work is not updated yet. Yes, I cried from disappointment after leaving the OB waiting room having waited 45 minutes with Kaden bouncing off the walls. But I guess I've let it go. I feel good, and I feel pregnant. That's enough for now. I'll give the insurance some time, I might get in to see the OB this week, or maybe next (though next week I'll be in AZ). I made an appointment at a 3D ultrasound place to take pics/video this Saturday, which will be exciting because EV can be there. :-)
Other than that I have a huge bump which is starting to get firm (not just bloat belly). It's so funny. I popped fairly early with Kaden, but this is ridiculous. I will try to get a pic online for Thursday.
QOTD: We also ate dinner together every evening. EV and I try to eat dinner and breakfast together (but especially dinner). I also have some Holiday traditions I hope to pass along: such as candles on the Christmas tree (German tradition from my Mom's family). We also used to sit around the candle lit tree on Christmas eve, listen to music, sing carols and drink hot cocoa. I'm looking forward to the Holidays this year because I believe we are staying home and it'll be fun with Kaden :-)
AFM, I'm trucking along at 33 almost 34 weeks. We finally got the baby room put together this weekend! It is a hodgepodge of a lot of donated/reused items but some how the furniture all matches. The theme is baby animals so there are baby animals everywhere. It definitely would not be featured in a baby magazine, but it is so us and I love it!
You should PIP the nursery on Thursday!

Good to see everyone's updates. I decided to work from home today and as of 1pm CST, I have yet to put pants on.
@KH826 - First tri yuckiness is no fun. It's only redeeming quality is reminding you that you are pregnant when you can't yet see a bump or feel the baby move. As far as your OB goes, I would just recommend finding a practice that is in line with any particular birthing plan you want to follow. Some doctors are quick to induce and/or offer C/S when those may be things you hope to avoid at all costs. I'm sure I don't need to say that to you, but thought I would throw in my unsolicited advice.
@txdz14 - I haven't "seen" you around since I started posting. Are you also in Texas?
@herbabymama and @mwagner25 - looking forward to seeing pics of your nurseries! I need to post some updated pics soon.
@jazibel - glad you are starting to feel better and hope you get to see your OB soon!
@herbabymama I am so jealous that you are getting to your maternity leave soon... and that you get six months off. That's awesome! My doc isn't concerned about the contractions unless they are less than five minutes apart for more than an hour, progressing in pain, or my water breaks. Otherwise, he says my uterus is "practicing" for labor. Right now when they get regular they are usually about 7-8 minutes apart for a few hours, then things settle back down. Lots of water and baths help when things really start being uncomfortable. Hopefully you have a few more weeks before you start this cycle if you do at all!

30 weeks here , EDD is December 20th and whoa my ribs are getting sore! I'm short and so I have a short torso. Not much room to expand and I have to try and make myself longer lol. I decided to go ahead and wash a bunch of baby clothes and it helped me see what more I need. Besides the sore ribs, etc, everything is going well! Just waiting for time to pass so I can see my little man's face!
It's so good to see that everyone is doing well, besides the normal things that come with growing life within.
QOTD: Holiday traditions are something I'm really excited about handing down. Things I haven't done in a long time but will have reason to now like putting Christmas lights on the house after a big Thanksgiving day meal. Having a tree with lots of wrapped presents, and him opening one on Christmas Eve. Special Christmas pajamas and watching the classic holiday things. The magic of Christmas morning is a huge one I can't wait for
Thank you for the congrats and well wishes from last week.. I was a bit shell shocked from learning there were two so I took time to process it.
My EDD is May 28th and I'm 7w6d along. I'm feeling really miserable to be honest. I'm so so nauseous and gross feeling all the time. I got a prescription for zofran, but I only get 24 pills covered under insurance (wtf is up with that insurance company!?) , so I'm only taking it when I really need it. I really can't wait until I feel more like myself again, I'm becoming a hermit and it's driving my wife insane.
We'll be going for a second ultrasound on Thursday, and our first OB appt on friday which should be nice!
I hope everyone else is having a better week than I am!
QOTD: My family isn't very close now that the years have wore on so any traditions that we have will be ones my wife and I create for our family!

@ATXmommas I honestly can't find a regular time every single day to check in so whenever I have some down time at work, I do some lurking and reading and an occassional reply. :-$
Yes we are also in Texas in the Southeast area close to Louisiana (about 30 minutes to be exact)!
@Jazibel THANK YOU!! I am really not having regular BH yet so I am hoping that's a good thing. I figured if they were going to come super early my body would be preparing a little bit better! haha
Hi all, I'm returning to this board for the first time in a while. I didn't mean to leave, just got ridiculously sick during my first trimester with twin girls, diagnosed with hypermesis, hospitalized, etc. Now I'm 27 and a half weeks and though the nausea has returned somewhat, it is still WAY better than during the first trimester. Recently I've been tired, constipated, a little nauseas ( compared to before, still puke) and feel both babies kicking all the time! I'm gonna to take off starting around thanksgiving and am relieved, though I love my job, and also feel guilty.
A funny side note, my wife and I got legally married while I was in the hospital for hypermesis, because that's when it became legal here in California. ( we had a ceremony three years ago)
Pinkspark, I totally related to your last post, the initial shell shock and the nauseas misery of a first trimester with twins! It really does get better. Most of my second trimester was so pleasant and nausea just started up again but, again, it's SO much better! Feel free to reach out any time, you won't feel this way forever. And, yeah, I was SO shell shocked to be pregnant with two originally but having had a lot of time to process, I'm now really happy about it!:-)
