Natural Birth

Meds free birth following modified bed rest

Does anyone have experience with a meds-free birth, following being on bed rest for an extended period? I had a pretty rough experience being induced due to Pre-E last pregnancy and a lot of back pain despite having an epi. I'm seriously consider going meds free this time so I can at least try to work through my labor pain.

However, I've been on modified bed rest until July. I really can't do much physical activity due to pre-term labor concerns. I am in horrible shape and have pretty much no endurance. Is there any hope for a meds-free birth? I worry that I'm setting myself up for failure with trying to go into labor with the expectation of going meds free if my body is not strong enough to do that on its own at some point.

Has anyone else dealt with this? Is this a real concern or am I just letting my nerves get to me?

  • I'm a FTM so no real advice however I strongly believe our bodies were made for this. Your body is strong and knows what to do. I am no where near where I should be as far as being in shape but I think getting through labor med free is more mental than anything else. I am 40wks 6 days so when I deliver I will let you know but I think if you have set in your mind that you can do it you will!
