Re: Bright and early TTC Check In!

  • Good morning friends,

DW and I did our first of 3 at-home ICI's yesterday. We will be doing another Tuesday and finally, Thursday. OPKs are turning darker and darker, just like always. CBEFM is at high now, and should be at peak in a day or so. My cycle length may be irregular, but I do seem to always O on the 21st day of my cycle, so that's a bonus.

I'm not sure if I am going to temp during my 2ww. It seems to make things a lot more stressful. Do any of you stop temping after you O?

QOTW: Oh I love hockey, so that is number one for me, but most of the games are on cable and that is not an expense we pay for. I love my Patriots and Red Sox, so the games yesterday were amazing.

TTC our first. Married to, and madly in love with, my beautiful wife. Living with our fur baby and enjoying 19 nieces and nephews.
    • DW and I have been tracking, preparing, getting medical testing since January 2013.
    • First Cycle: Unmedicated ICI w/ Donor Sperm 08/02/13: BFN
    • Second Cycle: Unmedicated ICI w/ Donor Sperm 09/11/13, 09/13/13, 09/15/13: BFN
    • Third Cycle: Unmedicated ICI w/ Donor Sperm: 10/13/13, 10/15/13, 10/17/13, 10/21/13: BFN
    • January 2014: Sonohysterogram shows excellent lining & tubes have no blockages
    • Fourth Cycle:  Monitored clomid cycle  w/ ICI's at home: 1/24/14 and 1/25/14. Ovulation verified:  BFN
    • Fifth Cycle: 02/2014 Femara 5mg with ovidrel trigger CD14: BFN
    • Taking a few months off to evaluate if we want to keep trying

  • Good morning everyone!  I'm hanging out and waiting for Thursday when I have my first ultrasound of the cycle.  I finished my Clomid several days ago.  Started doing OPKs this morning and so far no surge.  I've been temping since that seems to be the thing to do.  It's much more reliable now that it's not summer anymore.  I tried temping in July and it was a mess.  My temperature would vary from 97 to 98.5 and I never really knew what it meant.  The mornings I woke up with sweat on my forehead due to the merciless sun baking our room were the days that my temperature soared.  So at least I have that going for me now.

I was worried about Clomid crazies but I didn't have a single symptom.  It was like I was taking Aspirin at night or something for all the impact it had on my body.  I hope that's not a sign that it didn't work :(

QOTW: If sports are on TV, we turn the channel.  We walked into a bar in Wisconsin when the Badgers were playing and everyone was going nuts.  We had no idea what was going on.  Same thing happened when we went to a local brewpub here and the IU game was on.  Everyone was cheering and we, again, had no idea what was going on.  Honestly, I wish I loved sports because it would give me something to look forward to.  But I cannot for the life of me get myself into it.  I've tried.  Nothing.

  • TTC is on hold for the next 6 weeks while I recover from surgery. The doctor wants to see me for post-op near the end of November, and we'll go from there. :)

I'm bouncing back pretty good from surgery, which I'm pleased about. I made a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving which went over pretty well with Smurf's fam. Certainly took a lot of energy out of me though! LOL

QOTW: I'm not much for sports, but I do love to watch lacrosse! I am a big fan of the Calgary Roughnecks, and once a year we go to Toronto to see them play the Rock at the ACC. The game is usually right around our anniversary, so we make a big deal of it and go out for a nice dinner, splurge on a hotel etc.  Smurf, on the other hand, is a huuuuge hockey fan, especially of the Leafs.

Lesbian couple from SW Ontario, Canada | Me: 29 + 1 DF: 44 | Together 3.5 yrs, getting married in 2015 | TTC since Jun 2013

My Dx: PCOS, blocked fallopian tube(s), mild endometriosis & uterine septum (both removed during surgery Oct 11/13)

Jun 24/13: referral to Fertility Clinic ordered by gyne

Aug 15/13: initial consult with FS at Victoria Hospital Fertility Clinic, BW & HSG ordered

Aug 20/13: HSG shows one tube completely blocked, other tube slow to fill

Sep 18/13: FU w/FS re: HSG & BW. BW normal, laser laparoscopy & hysteroscopy ordered

Oct 11/13: Hysteroscopy, laser laparoscopy, & HSG determined I actually have a uterine septum and mild endometriosis, and that my tubes were never blocked! Septum and endo removed with laser during surgery. Post-op in 6 wks.

Nov 26/13: Post-op - fully healed with no complications; confirmed tubes are clear and septum and endo removed. Referred to Donor Insemination program.

  • C and I went for my CD 10 u/s on Saturday morning. The result wasn't quite what we were expecting. I don't remember the total count, but I believe there were two follicles in my right ovary and at least three in the left. This is my fourth cycle on Femara and the most I have had up to this point was three. Also, all were either at 10 mm or just below. Last cycle I had a 22 mm and a 15 mm on CD 12. We went up on Saturday expecting that we would be back on Sunday or today to inseminate based on how I have responded to the meds in the past cycles.

So, the plan is that we go back up Wednesday morning for another u/s. Then, depending on how everything looks, I will use Ovidrel on Wednesday or Thursday and the IUI will be Friday or Saturday.

QOTW: I'm not really huge into sports but I do watch at times. C likes football so we watch that whenever it is on and we are home. I do enjoy watching NBA games in person. I haven't done that in a few years though.

    Me: 30  DW (aka C): 29

Together since 2/15/11 ~ Legally married in NY on 9/29/12

    ***CP mentioned***

We've been working on baby #1 since July 2013 using Open ID donor sperm.  8 IUI attempts with 5 actual IUIs and one chemical pregnancy.  We have one fresh IVF cycle under our belts as well as a FET.  I have endometriosis and a uterine septum that was corrected via surgery in November 2013.

11/14/14 -  Second HSG shows that tubes are still clear and ute is looking good.

12/6/14 - Started BCPs in prep for IVF #2

12/22/14 - Saline u/s and endometrial scratch (All was clear and OUCH!)

    1/2/15 - Began stimming for IVF #2

     ****All Welcome!****

We are Mommas to four fur babies - 3 dogs and 1 cat.

  • I forgot that it was Monday on the Bump because today is Thanksgiving in Canada, so it doesn't feel like a regular Monday. We just got back from Kitchener (about 1.5 hours from us) where M's family lives. We had Thanksgiving dinner with them yesterday afternoon and then all went to see Gravity in 3D. I totally recommend it and it is definitely worth watching on the big screen in 3D.

We met with the RE on Saturday because I have been bleeding through my birth control pills and we wanted to see what she wanted me to do. My lining was 8mm so she had me stop the bill to get a full bleed. I'm on day 2 of a full bleed, so I'll start the pill again tomorrow night. Then on Friday I'll have a repeat sono. I had polyps removed in January, so she wants to make sure my uterus is looking good.

If that goes well, the plan is now to start me on 10 days of lupron on November 21. She'd previously said she wanted to do an antagonist short protocol (no lupron) with me, but has reconsidered and now thinks a lupron longer protocol is a better choice because of my endo. We'd then be looking at a retrieval in mid-December and (hopefully!) a fresh transfer shortly before we'd head to Chicago for Christmas.

We did our first IUI last year in December, the week before Christmas. Since we were almost sure that it was going to be BFN (IUI was 48 hours too early!), it was a pretty shitty experience. Hoping to flip that one on its head this year.

QOTW: I'm a jock, but I'm not a huge fan of watching sports. I am always happy to go to a baseball game. And I'll watch baseball or football on TV if other people are watching. Basketball I can take or leave when it comes to watching. In general, like @KLeigh1 I tend to prefer college sports to professional ones.
    ****loss discussed*****

We're queer. I'm 33, have severe stage 4 endo, and had both fallopian tubes removed. My love ("Manada" on the boards, 32) was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. We did Partner IVF (my eggs, her uterus). We lost our twins Tavin and Casey at 21 weeks gestation.

    Our IUIs
with @Manada: IUI# 1-7 (December 2012- September 2013) all BFN. Tried natural, femara, clomid, puregon/follistim, clomid and menopur combo, both the ovidrel and HCG triggers.

    Our IVFs:
IVF #1 my eggs November/December 2013: Cancelled IVF due to poor response

    IVF #2 my eggs/Manada's uterus January/February 2014
BCPs and lupron overlap Stimmed: 1/22-2/2: Bravelle and Menopur (dosage ranged from B300 and M150 to B375 and M150 to B300 and M225)
2/4 retrieved 10 eggs. Endo was much worse than expected. Only 3 eggs fertilized; February 7 transferred two day 3 embryos, froze one. All great condition.
    BFP eve of 6dp3dt; Beta 1 (11dp3dt): 110; Beta 2 (13dp3dt): 175; Beta 3 (15dp3dt): 348; Beta 4 (19dp3dt): 2222; Beta 5 (21dp3dt): 4255
    1st ultrasound (3/6  6w 1d): TWINS!!!! Twin A measuring 6w1d with a heartbeat of 118bpm. Twin B measuring 6w0d with a heartbeat of 113bpm.

***July 18, 2014 we lost our beautiful babies at 21 weeks gestation. They were born too early. Tavin Sara T. and Casey Elizabeth T. are beautiful and precious and we will love them and miss them forever.***

    FET #1 December 2014
Intralipid infusion on Dec 10. Transfer of 1 day 3 nine-cell embryo into my uterus on Dec. 19. (acupuncture immediately before and after)
    BFP on Dec. 27; Beta 1 Jan 2 (14dp3dt): 665, Beta 2 Jan 4 (16dp3dt): 1859, Beta 3 Jan 6 (18dp3dt): 4449, Beta 4 Jan 10 (22dp3dt): 12,251.

My beta for this cycle should be right around (maybe in between) the year anniversary of my ER and ET.  Although both went well initially, they obviously ended badly, so I'm kind of hoping for an opposite result this year...FX for both of us!

    Happy Thanksgiving! :)

  • I hope everyone survived their Monday.

We are on CD15, finished Clomid last week and had our u/s on Saturday to verify 3 very large follies.  We did an insemination last night.  We were going to do another this evening but I am not feeling well and having some minor cramping.  I think the cramping is due to some digestive issues I have been having.  Ugh, so annoying.  So I guess we start the TWW today!

Good luck to everyone in the varies stages of their TTC.

  • Hey all!
I think I am in denial that I'm still TTC :)...that is, outside of being in bcp's this part of the process is pretty quiet which I'm enjoying a lot. J is taking the approach of not caring if it works...feeling that we've put so much pressure on the situation every time that maybe we're trying to kill a mosquito with a fire hose and we need to back off, chillax and let things unfold.

I have been spending a little time on "what next?" if #4 embryo doesn't work....but whatever is next won't happen until we take a few months off.

We are debating adoption or potentially doing another cycle with a small clutch of frozen donor eggs (6) which usually gives you one more try...for $18K. Not sure that's worth it. And, if we did, we're not sure if we'd stick with our egg donor who has a frozen batch or try with two new donors all up. You can see why we're avoiding thinking about this...

Our WTF appt. is 10/25 and we're going to do the saline hysteroscopy just to make sure there aren't any adhesions (there better not be!) and then talk to see if we want to change any protocol. I'm scheduled for 12/5 for our last transfer.

Like @healz and @ball.and.chain, the timing is less than awesome....our donors egg retrieval was last year on 12/5, and our transfer was 12/11... And I was pregnant until mid march from that try. It's been a long year of TTC, and I hope we get to take a baby home with our last try!
    Lil'mamaz was born on Aug 21, 2014! She's PERFECT!

  • Ugh, the 2WW is such a bear :( hang in there, @KLeigh1!  I'm rooting for you!  FX all the way!  I'm hoping to venture into the 2WW soon myself - as long as I don't need to schedule the IUI on Sunday I should be cleared to do it soon.  A BFP from a fellow LGBT bumper would be most inspiring :)
  • DW and I have decided to wait until after the holidays to try our 3rd IUI. After the let down of the last one I need a break. We decided we are going to try a different donor when we buy our next couple of vials. If it doesn't work for me with those DW is thinking about trying. She is 6 years older than me and worried she might be too old at only 37.
  • Fingers crossed for all!! <3

  • I'm really late on updating.  The same day as my temp drop and my blood work I got my period.  It is weird how much you can tell by charting your BBT.  When I went in to get my blood work I was already pretty sure it would be a BFN and then sure enough about 2 hours later I got AF.  I start OPK again on Monday and most likely IUI #2 will be on Thursday or Friday.

Good luck to everyone still in there TWW!
