Weight loss techinques

What are some weight loss techniques that you have used that have been successful for you? Groups, apps, workout videos, really anything. I do all the shopping for my house but H is not very on board with the "we only have health foods in the house" concept so he wants at least some junk food. My problem is is that I eat the junk food too. I have always had an unhealthy relationship with food that I am trying to work on but I need help. Any tips or tricks would be great.

As of right now, I don't drink pop and drink about 90 oz of water a day. I have a desk job doing sales so I barely leave my office. I get home from work at 6:30p and my kid is in bed by 7:15p so I don't have much time to do much besides feeding him and giving him a bath at night. Also, my husband works 6p - 6a 4 days a week so I can't leave my house to work out on nights he works.

TIA for any advice!

  • I have started really focusing down on counting calories during the week with MFP app. I started focus T25 a couple weeks ago and am already seeing great results. The great thing about it is it's only 25 minutes a day. Weekends I don't record my food, just take smaller portions than I normally would at mealtime, about half. Plus we stopped eating out and make everything at home.

  • @Medhp00 what workout videos do you use that you like? Also, I am from Ohio so it is certainly pop! :-)
  • Kettlebell workouts at home are great. They will give you a good combo of strength training and cardio all in one workout. You can find tons of workouts on you tube. I do two by Bender Fitness that I think are really good. One is 30mins and one is 45mins. I do these 3 days a week then run with DS in jogging stroller 3 times a week. Alternating between kettlebell and running. I take one day off a week from everything.

  • Could you have a cabinet or covered drawer in the refrigerator designated only for dh's junkfood? Then he can buy his own and you'll never have to go in them.
  • I second fitness blender.  I have used the site daily since January.

  • I lost 25 pounds in 2011 through a combination of writing everything down and aiming for 1400-1700 calories per day AND working out 2-3 days per week.

I've been doing that since January of this year and have only lost about 13 pounds.

I recently ceased calorie counting after 10 months because it was affecting me really negatively.  I am going to add a third workout to my weekly regimen and focus on eating healthfully without counting.  Hopefully that will do the trick!
  • I usually do the gym- but on days I can't I use dailyhiit.com and bodyrocktv.com.

I try to meal prep but doesn't really work sometimes...

I don't drink soda. I have one day a week for sweets. I eat 6 small high protein meals a day. I use my fitness pal too- but the calorie thing is off- for the workouts I do, it doesn't add up.

Do you use a polar watch? if so, go by those calories burned and not what MFP says.

I SAH with DD and I find myself ALWAYS wanting to snack. I just buy healthy snack options so I'm not eating chocolate all day long, which of course I'd much rather be doing, but out of sight- out of mind :)
  • I follow a loose version of the paleo diet and also run 4-6 miles twice a week and also attend crossfit classes regularly. Do you run? I use Nike run and do monthly challenges with friends which keeps me motivated. Working out in a fun group setting is really helpful!
