Time to make the padsicles

Ok, so I have read a few tutorials and this is what I"m thinking:
I have the pads and the tucks. I plan to open up the pad and put the tucks in put it back together (this will prevent them from sticking to the sensitive area). I also plan on adding aloe gel to them. Should I put that on top or under the tucks? Thoughts?

Anybody made them in the past and think I'm totally on the wrong track here?
TIA

ha ha!! I just thought that when I reread the title!! Thank god those trays weren't filled with frozen which hazel pads!!

  • Okay so I have no idea as I just made these last weekend (first time I have done it) and I was really confused as well with undoing the whole pad and how that will mess up with laying it flat on the underwear..but I also don't have tucks.  I used witch hazel, aloe gel, and a little dash of lavender oil (thats what my tutorial said) so I just spread the gel over the pad with a plastic knife, then drizzled witch hazel on on with a few shakes of the oil.  But that is what I did.  Good luck and hopefully you can figure it out!!
  • hahaha..I know luckly my DH was working late that night so he wasn't home--otherwise I don't think that he would have been too excited about that--hopefully he doesn't find them in the freezer now :)
  • Seriously though, I got my witch hazel and pads and I'm about ready to do get to work on my own.

  • Your post inspired me to look up a tutorial on putting padsicles together since I need to start thinking about it soon as well and I found this  https://www.tallmomtinybaby.com/2013/05/padsicles-new-mom-perfect-companion.html.

    I hope it helps!

Huh. I thought you just pour witch hazel on them, then freeze them?
And ow I wouldn't use any essential oils on something that's going to be placed in a raw sensitive area. Even lavender.

Yea, so I guess you pour the which hazel if you have liquid which hazel. but for some reason I though you were supposed to by the tucks pads and I'm trying to use them rather than buy the liquid.

  • okay so I am trying to read some reviews on amazon for you about tucks and are they already pads that you don't need to make them into pads?
  • Padsicles work best with witch hazel. The tucks pads make it hard to fold them back up and keep them together in the freezer. I used the tucks pads for pad sundaes which have to be made right before you put them on.
    Here are the 2 tutorials:

They are "pads" in the clearasil face toner sense. Not in the Always bleeding from down below sense.

Okay...so this is what I found off the internet--the second on suggests putting the tucks in the pad like you had thought in the very beggining:

I took the easy way out and ordered them in amazon and than just bought a bottle of witch hazel with aloe in case I need it. I don't have the link anymore but just search for perineal cold pack

  • The perineal cold pads on Amazon seem really expensive... I might be too cheap to go the lazy route on this one.

I only saw the $30 box too. Is there something I'm missing.

That's what I paid, it's for a case if 24. I have a gf who was given these in the hospital and she said it was the most amazing thing ever! Not all hospitals have them and they wouldn't give her any to bring home .... In my mind $30 is a small price to pay to have some relief down there for the few days after birth!
  • Thanks ladies! I have been mobile today so I couldn't look up but yep found it on amazon! :)
