Lopsided supply?

So my left side has always produced slightly less but only by like an ounce. After a feeding I could generally get about 4 ounces in 5 min on each side. My left side however doesn't seem to fill as fast or as much as my right. Now the difference in production between sides is about 3 ounces. I'm constantly lopsided and I feel like LO may get fussy on the left because there's not as much or the flow has slowed down but once he fusses he won't relatch even to the other side. If I pump just the left side will it stimulate production in both sides? I still can get engorgmdnt issues in the right if LO goes longer than normal between feedings. Ugh I just down want to dry up

It's apparently common at my bf support group they were all talking that their right has more milk than the left, I don't know how much of a difference is normal

  • Lefty has always produced more than righty.

LO has been sleeping 6 hour stretches, and by the time she wakes up, my left side is hard as a rock and leaking all over.  The right side is pretty soft.  But, she can still get plenty of milk from the right side, I just have to pump the left.

  • Righty and lefty bae minds of their own. They letdown in sync but that's about it. :o)
  • My right makes more too. I call it "trusty righty" because it produces so much more! I read somewhere recently that the right produces more for a lot of women, totally normal.

  • I just thought that righty made more because it's bigger. Glad to know I'm not totally weird, just lopsided.

  • Yep lopsided here too. You are always going to be a little bit off. But if you want to even it out a lil you can feed from low side two feeds in a row then one on your high producing side. I just stopped caring and at about 9 weeks they evened out on their own.

Yup! Lefty is a bit lazy for me too. That's the side I feed from if I want LO to just have a 'snack' or I always start on that side for a full feed and then finish on the right. She is usually happy to take the lot, especially at her last feed before bed when we 'tank her up'.

I have felt that lately lefty has been even less productive than usual. Never feels engorged at all now, now matter how long in between use. I'm just glad righty is doing its thing well.

  • My left makes a little more than the right but has a way faster flow. I have to continue pumping right 2-3 min after left has let down and stopped.

  • My left is my big producing, non leaky boob. My right is leaky, and produces less (or loses what would make is the same through the leakage.) My left can get flat out empty, but right always has some.

Boobs are weird. My left is also almost a cup size larger... so you know... attractive lopsided boobies! :)

  • My left is way bigger and produces way more. I don't even use my right for BF except for pumping when I pump 4 times a day. I get 2 oz each pumping session.
